Swap Meet/Flea Market   

On Thankgiving morning crate driver Dan Fleming woke up and did not have much feeling in his right leg and right arm. When he told his wife Cheri, she immediately put him in the car and headed to the emergency room. Little did they know, Dan was having a stroke. Dan spent the next week going through scans, tests and procedures all while making every nurse believe he is an angel of a patient (we know the truth).

 

The most important thing then was to get Dan out of the hospital and get him into accute rehab at Kessler Rehab center to get his limbs moving again. Dan is now at Kessler and working hard to make a full recovery from the stroke. In multiple conversations he has mentioned getting back to work and gearing up for the 2024 race season.

 

Lots of people have been reaching out asking how they can help Dan. So many kind stories were told about Dan and Cheri and how they are the 1st to offer help to so many in our community when it has been needed. I feel this is our time to be there for a member of our racing family. Dan and Cheri have a long road ahead of them. Currently Dan is working on retraining his brain to do simple things like screw and unscrew a bolt and learning how to balance himself when standing & walking. Once Dan is able to leave the in-patient rehab he will have to continue out-patient therapy as well as many specialist appointments to aid in his recovery.

 

At this time, Dan does not have an exit date for being released from in-patient therapy even though he set a goal for it to be sooner rather than later. There is a lot of unknown right now.

 

This bring me back to the questions we have been receiving, how can we help? If this had happened during the race season we could of easily done a helmet drive for Dan and Cheri to help offset some of the mounting medical bills they will have. Since we are in the off season we are going to do a off-season version of a helmet drive.
