Your post brought back a memory I had of getting to drive my passenger car around Flemington on one of the very last days (possibly the very last day) that race cars roared at the speedway...

It was after the track had closed, but the National Old Time Automobile Racing Club (NOTARC) had an event (2003?) where a lot of their members were there with their vintage cars, for one more day, on track, at the speedway.

The day had pretty much wrapped up, and all of the race cars had been loaded up on their trailers, so when leaving, I knew I'd never get another chance to do it, so when crossing the track from the pits, I decided to make a left and take a lap around the speedway, to get this view that I knew few would ever see again....

Probably averaged about 15 mph, but it's a lap I'll never forget.
