It wasn't exactly sneaking in but I tried to watch the races for free at EWS one night. I didn't have money to go I guess so one night I rode my bicycle up to Conover Road which ran parallel to Airport Rd. on the turns 3 & 4 side.
This was years before all those homes were built out there so I rode by bike across the field into the wooded area off turn 3. I figured if I hid in the trees I could see the races for nothing. I didn't realize those woods were full of sticker bushes and I was in shorts. I got pretty close to the track but not close enough to see anything.
I had to give up as I was getting jabbed with stickers every step I tried to take. I rode my bike over to the track and by that time the races were over so I went into the pits. Chic Cossaboone won in the 7a.
The next morning my mom asked me why my legs were covered with horrible scratches.
