My buddy in turn 2 was texting me early on. He kept just saying "1992" Far more carnage and injuries in 1992 but it was similar. 4th coldest 500 on record according to what I read. I wore a thickish flannel and kept it on all day. Glad I had it. We left NC on Thursday morning and my wife was in shorts and a t-shirt. We stopped somewhere out there and were shocked at how cold it was. She ended up buying sweatpants, another blanket and a hoodie at some thrift store while we were out there. Both of us didn't pack enough colder weather gear. Thursday night in Coke Lot there were 2 gentlemen from Holland in our campsite. In America checking the 500 off their bucket list. They ended up hanging with us much of the weekend. They even showed up at a friend's cookout at his house nearby on Friday. Its the silly unplanned stuff that makes any trip memorable
