This Weekend's Question: Women in Racing  

Mares Stellfox won what I still consider one of the top 3 sprint car races that I ever attended.

The URC sprinters ran a pair of 20 lap features at PennCan one night and she started 16th or 17th in the first one. They had a couple yellows that helped but I noticed she had gotten into the top 10. When she moved into the top 5 everybody realized what was happening and when the white flag waved she was in 2nd. She caught the leader on the backstretch and passed him on high side coming off of turn 4 to get the win.

She pulled into Victory Lane and was being interviewed when I saw everyone looking toward the 1st turn. There must have been close to 100 crew members and drivers from the other teams coming out of the pit entrance to celebrate with her. That was a cool moment to be a part of.
