I never flagged a show at Flemington. I really wish I did.
That being said, any race track with pits in the infield is difficult. I dont remember how the lights were at Flemington, but lots of tracks have lighting facing the front straight and we all know how trying to see in the dark with bright lights in your face works.
Sumter in SC was the most difficult track I ever flagged at because the lights were in your face and the infield was filled with haulers.
They've done a massive remodel and now the pits are outside the track and the new lights face the back straight and it is much easier to see all the way around.
Not defending Harry Dee, I know he got lots of criticism over the years but Im quite certain it was difficult if not impossible to work in the flagstand at Flemington without extra eyes around the track.
Something easily visible in one part of the stands may or may not be visible at all in the flagstand.
Just adding my opinion based on years of experience at a few dozen dirt tracks. 🙂
