Tracks make money on the 602 crate division. Modifieds draw fans. The two divisions need each other. I have seen the small block modified crates run and win at $20,000.00 per engine. Tracks need to encourage crate engines to keep the sport alive. Reduced weight limits being slowly implemented over several years would allow owners an opportunity to stay competitive and transition to small block crates.
