It was the first time Jockey Jose Ortiz ever won the Derby; his brother finished second. First female trainer to ever win a derby. So Happy, the favorite, finished 9th. The one-horse "Great White" had to be scratched because it threw the jockey off and flipped over on its back before loading into the gate. The winner Golden Tempo odds 25-1, the trifecta paid out over 11 grand on a $2.00 bet
