Excellent driver, always brought the car home in one piece. I always recall that his engine smoked a little bit so I asked him about it confidentially about it after the races one night. I thought it was too rich on the fuel settings.
He stated that he kept the bottom end bearing clearances a little on the loose side, this resulted in a little less friction. He went over them after every race.
