A few years later, around 10 y.o., we built downhill racers also. Scrap wood, some hardware, scrounged wheels and a piece of rope, good to go. I even managed to put 15” car wheels/tires on the back of mine. What a rake! We would even tow them with our bikes to different neighborhood’s hilly   streets and race the locals there.
