Friday, was freezing cold and most of the fans and myself were brave to combat the 30 degree temps. It was great racing and, everything went very smoothly. After I got home, my face was windburned and it stung a little.
Saturday, Mother Nature was getting close to show her wrath. The staff, has done the right thing to push the program along and, they've put the Tour Modifieds second! In the Tour Mods, it was totally insane! Dave Sapienza had been quick since he has shown up after several Derbies. The Blewett and Hirschman battle was completely ugly and, Hirschman stated that Jimmy tried to "harpoon" him. Well, that's what Charlie Manuel who coached the Phillies said, "It is, what it is". I like to congratulate Dave Sapienza for his victory. Sapienza became the second Long Islander to win since, George Kent did in 1979. Sapienza was at the right place, at the right time. Jimmy wasn't reached for comment of the fiasco with Hirschman because, he had to be prepared for the Dirt Modified and, he went on to win. After 17 laps, of the Legends it was called due to mist and, Mother Nature had won the rest.
I did not show on Sunday because, after the staff called it Saturday and said to myself, "This is the end of the road for me,". I liked the Tour Type Mods and, they did the right thing to put them in second on the card. Eric Mauriello, won his third Derby overall. His last victory was in 2014, when he won the Tour Modified in the Dick Barney #14 since Tony Siscone parked the Big Red machine in the Winner circle in 1991. I wanted to send my congratulations to Mr Smooth for a victory for Steve Ferarra!!!
On behalf of the Krause family, I wanted to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2019 and good luck Next Year!!!
PS. I wanted to send my congrats to Blake Barney who made his best effort to bring the #14 home, with a fourth place paycheck!!!
