Hey all, I just found this from Joe Ault. The 301 looks like Craig riding on the high side. Britt Batty in his 64 and many others I remember.

Nice find - Mike Kostic #XX and Kerry Schloeder in the #K46 too.  I'm thinking that it's from1975.

I wasn't born yet, but maybe someone can explain why all the prehistoric-era cars are different and unique.

Oh man! It was great to see Craig in the red 301 sedan really getting around! Looks like he won his heat and came in second in the feature!

WOW!! Just this minute, I feel like I'm sitting with Dad and my brother in turn four again at Delmar in 1975. THANK YOU for posting this video. If there was a race @ Delmar, we were in the stands.

Haines Tull in the yellow 3D vega modified was my first favorite driver. Harold Bunting in the white 91. This may have been one of few times I saw Craig in the 301. Always was a treat to see drivers from other tracks come down at the end of the year shows.

Thanks again for posting

Allen

That's the Sidewinder, former #91. A motorcycle racer named Britt Batty bought it and raced it briefly. It's now part of Ray Evernham's collection after being restored by Tim McGuire and crew.

Wayne Weaver hot lapping the restored version at NES...lucky bastid! Smile

Click on this link (It's to the Real Weld Section): https://3widespicturevault.com/3wides_Weld_Cars_Homepage1_.htm

and then scroll down till you see the same picture as the car above and it says, "Reference "12th" - One Off Weld Built Modified", then click on the thumbnails in that section to see what the possible/probable history of that particular car, including a time as the #64, a blue #99, a blue #14, and then decades later, back to the red, white and blue #91.

No, it was built new in the family garage for the 1973 season and started out as a red and silver '41 Ford coupe. It was rebodied for the '75 season, ran the Nazareth opener in '76 and was retired a week later in favor of the new Chevette. A couple weeks later it became Billy Carver's #1Jr sportsman car.

I was there helping Kerry.  That former Gil Hearne coupe became Bruce Bowen's first car. I saw Mark Yaple in the video with George Ault.  The body from the white 11-7 became the blue 47 on Mark Lenhart's car.  Wish we could go back to that time. Everything homemade. We had fun doing it.

They were nice people. Matt used to let me ride his mini bike, Ann would take us down to the canal to watch the boats and cook for us, we use to go in the pool, fun times. Any idea why they switched to dirt? Obviously Flemington and Harmony were much longer rides for them...

the story i heard , at the time , had to do with matty's car catching fire, and the track  extinguishers malfunctioned---could be hearsay , or rumor, though--

terry van is the  "matty and ann" expert ; he'd know for sure--

thanks for sharing your story !!-blessings !!

I always wondered why he switched. Maybe because both Vineland and Old Bridge had closed and he wanted to race in Jersey. At that  time there were more dirt tracks than asphalt.

The #8 Pinto looks like the former Elk Mooneyham #55 that was driven by Hal Browning.
