In your opinion, what has been the best decade of racing and why. This could include any type of racing and any division (Dirt/Asphalt/NASCAR/etc).
1960 - 1970
1970 - 1980
1980 - 1990
1990 - 2000
2000 - 2010
2010 - 2020
2020 - current
I remember in the 90s going to see a Busch race where there were some pretty high profile names driving with a good amount of fans following them

1960 to 1970 lots of tracks NJ,NY,PA area you could go racing and run in the top 10 without going broke everyone did most of their own work.if you lived in NJ you were close to oldbridge, wall fort dix, flemington, east windsor, harmony, nazreth, reading, OCFS, big races at Langehorne and Trenton. at the most Reading or OCFS were 2 hours away most people could build a car from junk yard parts! |

I witnessed modified and sportsman racing from the 50's though the early 2000's and can say that the best racing, in my opinion, was from the early 60's up until the early 80's. I know that is at least two decades but they were the best! The type of cars, drivers, the variety of tracks the promoters like Jerry, Lindy and Paul and so on, combined to make racing exciting, enjoyable and fun! |

1970-1980. Reading was at it's best during that time, East Windsor ran 2 nights a week and had combined points with Flemington. Nazareth and Orange County had full fields of star drivers and cars. That was the best time. |

1970-1980 was my favorite. Dirt racing still had some induviduality (Batmobile brought the wider aero cars that are stuck to the track).

The 60's and 70's had the coolest cars but side by side slide job racing has never been better than it is now. |

1970's through mid 80's. You knew who the cars were by their bodies, didn't have to look at the names on the cars. You could build cars with junk yard parts and be competitive. You could have 1 car, and go to any track you wanted and race. Didn't need multiple cars with different bodies for different tracks. We used to race the weekend at East Windsor and Flemington, then load up and take the same car up and run Syracuse. And race at Five Mile Point on the way back. Got out of Modified racing mid 80's, went to Sprint Cars. Now they're getting almost as bad with all the different classes. And people wonder why car counts are down. Ahh, the good old days! |

1970-1980, just for the variety. You could see coupes, sedans, Mustangs, Corvairs, Pintos, Vegas and many more. And lots of racecars on lots of racetracks. |

1960-1970 the "see" decade. You could "see" cars being built and worked on in the local garge in your town. You could "see" the cars coming into the track on open trailers. You could "see" the drivers actually driving during the race. After the races you went into the pits and "see" what brand of engine each car was running and what latest gadgets were in the cockpit of each car. Miss those days. Thanks Joe for having a place for us old timers to see photos of that era. |

I think a lot of great points were made for just about all the decades. My mom and dad started taking me to the races in the mid 50s. For me, it was the 60s when I really started to get interested in the sport through most of the 70s when you could field a decent running hot rod without taking out a 2nd and/or 3rd mortgage on your house.
