Msg ID: 2704358 Center Section of Next Gen Chassis +0/-0

I was working at the Fabtech show in Chicago last week.  One of the exhibitors had the three sub-assemblies that make up the Next Gen Cup chassis.  Pictured is the center section shot from the right side.  The sub-frames are all bar-coded.  These particular sub assemblies must have been prototypes or rejects because they were marked "not for competition".  I read an article in Speed Sport a month or so ago that said that the sub-assemblies are both robot and hand welded to keep them as close to each other as possible.  I know that the new car is controversial, but I thought 3-widers might be interested in the craftmanship.

Had some really good input from a lot of good guys on this one, but seemed to keep drifting into the weeds of rumor/unsupported sources at times, and even a little personal, so I deleted all but the top post.

Thank you to Roboweld for the great images and giving us a look at what's behind the sheet metal..  (or is it all carbon fiber now  Undecided???)

And as GeneS mentioned, looks like some good welds there, and the pictures provided give us a "inside look", so thank you to Roboweld again.  The pictures are appreciated.

Actually Kev, I don't remember who and it doesn't really matter.  I think it had run it's course... right into the wall (no pun intended!) Laughing
