Went to Motor Mile Speedway in Radford,Va for the SMART modified race.

Likes:

1)Very nice facility that also has a  "Go Kart" & "IHRA Drag Strip" on the propery

2) Good car count for 99 lap SMART race.

Dis-Likes:

1) Late Start

2) Multiple Late Model style divisions that looked very similar to each other and no real explination on the difference. Car count for both was in the low teens. Both features had multple yellows and officials seemed to have a difficult time figuring out the restart order with many yellow laps. (TYPICAL ASPHALT BS)

3) Modified race was good until lap27 yellow for fluid on the racing surface. At this point is when the nonsense took over. Apparently fluild from one of the cars was around the entire race track and the track crew seemed to have difficulty with getting the track back to complete the race. At this point, I had enough and headed for the exit.  Will not return far future shows. 

Williams Grove Friday show only.  liked-great field of cars-track was perfect-atmosphere at the Grove for the National Open is secong to none-pace of show was tollerable? with that many people there i kind of get it, must give people time to eat and buy souvineers?  weather perfect

dislikes- they must move the cars from the infield to turns 1&2.  hard to pay that kind of money and see half the track?  seems like enough room in 1&2??  prefer the 2 dashes with heat winners in dash 1 for spots 1-4 and 2nd place cars in dash 2 for spots 5-8.  prefer random draw but we all know thats never happening. 

overall pleased with show -  great crowd - plenty of parking even with all of the camper -i will be going back next year for a few shows

Williams Grove, National Open as a fan with my grandson, son in law and good friend Glenn Rygiel (stline).

Went on Saturday, place was packed to the rafters. It's the Natty Open fer chrissakes!

Likes: What's not to like? 50 of the best sprint car racers in the country racing for 75,000 bux...qualifying is important, time trials aren't my favorite but wth...track was speedy but widened out pretty good for the feature, very minimal dust and very racey. Don't understand why the local tracks can't figure it out! Posse/Outlaw/Posse member Brent Marks looked strong early but tangled with a lapper and pffft! $75k out the window. Posse/Outlaw Logan Schuchart was on a rail but got caught up negotiating lapped traffic and was caught by Carson Macedo with about 2 or 3 to go and wound up 2nd. $75k to win, $25k for 2nd. Damn! 

Dislikes: Not many, a little dilly dallying before the feature but it's not just a a race, it's a happening. To be expected.

Returning within a month? Nope, done for the season but I'll be back next year.

A side note: My grandson AJ had his heart set on somehow meeting Kyle Larson, but I waasn't sure how I was gonna get that done. He brought his Larson #5 matchbox car with him hopefully to be autographed, but he's only 7 so I couldn't get him in the pits. About 20 mins from the track my daughter calls and says Larson has a merch trailer set up at a restaurant parking lot about a 1/2 mile from the track! We figured it was late, he's probably at the track already but lets give it a shot anyway. Hopefully it won't be too crowded(yeah, right!) We pull in, the line isn't bad so I figured he must've left for the track already....we walk up to the trailer and I see a woman selling souvenirs and some young guy helping her. Glenn says "Hey, that's him!" It was! Couldn't believe it! AJ got a hat, t-shirt and a hoodie and he signed his car and hat..awesome! He even talked quarter midget racing with him for a minute or so...AJ was starstruck! I thought it was really cool that the possible 2021 Nascar champion was hanging out in a restaurant parking lot meeting fans 90 mins before getting ready to race. AJ is without question a fan for life!

With all the racing that Kyle does, and now you're experience with him manning the souvenier trailer, and talking with your Grandson, he really covers a lot of ground....  Maybe there's two of them! 

Nah... driver's racers like that don't come around very often, and there is only one Kyle Larson.

Texas Motor Speedway, was visiting a friend in Texas, he lives about 20 mins south of the track, nothing going on but I had the chance to grab some photos, went into and including the infield.

Hey John.  Glad that worked out for AJ.  Aside from Kyle Larsens obvious talent, he is a really nice young man and tries hard to be accessible to his fans

John, That is a great story about your Grandson meeting Kyle Larson. It's good to know he is the type of person that makes a young fans day. I remember years ago when I lived in NJ, I went to a DIRT race at New Egypt and my son was about 7 or 8 and a couple of "BIG NAME" drivers acted like they were doing my son a favor and not very friendly when we wanted to get his cherked flag signed. I personally rooted for one of those drivers until saw his interaction with my son that night. FYI, he was not a NE regular,  one of the DIRT guys.

Went to Delmar, DE for the Camp Barnes Benefit Race. It was actually my first time out to Delmar this year. I typically attend 4 or 5 times a year.

Like:

1) There were good fields of cars in each class. It was nice to see a decent Late Model race. It's rare to be able to see a Late Model race with a decent field these days. I forgot how much I enjoyed the Late Model racing at this track.

2) The Modified race was excellent. HJ Bunting, Jordan Watson, Ryan Watt, Ryan Krachun, and BP Jr were all fighting really hard.

3) The track surface was great. Really racey all night.

4) All of the main classes raced first with all support classes at the end. It allowed me to leave at a decent time.

5) Great crowd on hand and a good cause!

Dislike:

1) My main gripe is too many classes. Modified, Late Model, Crate Modified, Crate Late Model, Mod Lite, Vintage, Little Lincolns, Super Trucks, and Delmarva Chargers. That is 9 classes! The don't need all 5 support classes. I don't think the racing got done until about 1:30. When you start at 5pm that is crazy. 

2) They started about an hour late because they put too much water on the track for track prep. Then again, the track was great so I'm willing to sacrifice sitting and shooting the breeze for an hour and making new friends.

All in all, this was a great event. I may be back for the Champ show on the 23rd, but not sure. 

Went to Mahoning again as a fan with grandson, wife & buddy (been going to races with him since we were in gradeschool, 1964).

Good, started on time, 4PM, kept show moving, nice crowd, great food.

Not so good, wife recently had medical issues and needs a walker to get around right now.  Not enough handicapped parking, also not easy to navagate around the faciollity (however I'm sure that is the same everywhere when you have stones).  Also, mens room had some problems with clogging (that happens also) but the paper towel dispenser has not been repaired since early in the season.

Racing:  Racing was decent, Street stocks came down to 3 cars the last few laps.  Big Money Matt won the 91 lapper.  My grandson got into victory lane again with his 60 dollar bill.  For a bigger race, I thought we would see a few more modifieds & street stocks.

Yes, I plan on going back.  Enjoy that place but I wish they would fix things up a little such as the towel dispenser and the wooden bleachers & steps.  I think the staff there does a nice job and is trying to improve.
