It was brought to my attention that yesterday was our 19th year anniversary here for 3 Wide's Picture Vault.  Not sure how many years for our "Message Vault" as that started a few years later, but yup... I just checked... the first day that we went live for the main site (3 Wide's Picture Vault) was November 13th, 2002.  Do we have anyone out there that's been with us for all 19 years?

Lots of fun in those 19 years... Have gotten to meet a ton of people that I probably never would have.. And hopefully in some way the sight has been a way for all of us to acknowledge many of those who made the sport what it was for us, and what it will always be for us... a huge part of our growing up years... and memories that willl last a lifetime.

One more thing we've maybe accomplished along those 19 years, and something that remains very important to us here at The Vault is supporting the Matheny Christmas event.

I talked to Kevin who just recently received "Santa's List" and while he isn't saying much, I know that while we've heard from a few folks already (Thank you to those who have already contacted Kevin/RJC Charities) I'd like to see all of us do a better job in the next 2 weeks to make this year's event successful.

Sadly, we've lost some friends of The Vault who were very strong supporters of the event in years past... and while visits to our site remains high, with many spending more time on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc., folks are spread out in many different directions, and my concern is that the focus we should have here might be getting lost.

So here's an idea...

19 YEARS...

For every year that you've enjoyed visiting 3 Wide's Picture Vault and/or The Message Vault, please consider donating $1...

So... been visiting us for 5 years?.... a donation of $5 will be greatly appreciated.

10 years?

15 years?

19 years?  You get the idea!

Of course the above is just a suggestion.... Whatever you can do this year, as long as it is something, will help us to achieve our goal as "Friends of The Vault."

For some it may seem like Christmas is a long way off, but to make it all work, Kevin has already putting things in motion, so I ask that you take a minute today and join the other great racing folks and show our support for this year's event.

Thank you for your years of loyalty in visiting our site, and thank you in advance for taking the time to reach out to Kevin or RJC Charities (below) with your support for this year's event.

I believe I discovered this site in 2006, lying in bed followiing my second hip replacement.  I've been a huge fan ever since.  I have said many, many times that this is the best racing site on the entire internet.  I visit it almost daily.

Thanx Joe for getting it started and keeping it going!!!

Congrats!
Not sure what year I started looking at the picture vault and posting. I know once I started here I stopped posting and even looking at another board I frequented!
I think I check in at least once a day!

Almost two decades well done. Most websites vanish after a few years if they last that long. Not sure when I discovered this forum. But enjoy looking at it everyday.  Thank you for all the hard work you do and keeping the lights on here.

Joe, I can still remember the day Ray Neary told me to check out the 3Wide's web site. We were having breakfast and he told me you were soooooo interested in putting together a place on the web where people could post and comment on race car pictures. Ray was soo excited that all the racing history would not be lost. Joe you and your team do such a great job preserving our racing history, Thanks. Fred Menschner.

Not sure when I started to check out the site but 19 years ago I don't think I even had a iPad. A lot of race car stuff back then. Now I check it out a few times a day and love it. Keep up the good work

Joe-  When I first started visiting 3Wide about 7-8 years ago, it left me with visions of Cagle, Griffin, Kelly, Ploski, Osmun to name a few, pulling into Windsor on a Friday night, like it was yesterday!  The added bonus for me has been meeting and talking racing with a bunch of 3Widers.  Being a fan and a pit crew guy for a mid pack sportsman car from the 60s, I've also had the pleasure of meeting drivers, car owners and mechanics of iconic 60s and 70s hot rods.  LOVE THIS SITE!  Scott Ely                                                                          P.S.  Joe, please keep 3Wide going, life without it would be very boring.

Even tho I don't hit the tracks like I did years ago, I enjoy keeping up with what's happening & seeing posts from racing friends. Thank you, Joe for all you do...it's a lot of work, but also a labor of love on your part. I'm sure I've been reading this for quite a long time.

I think Frank Resta told me about 3 Wides one night at NES. That had to be around 2002 or 2003. This was still the early days of the internet so I had no way of sending images to someone else. I literally brought pictures to Joe at his house one afternoon to post in the Vault. I dont think he used any of them because they weren't mine but that's OK. Does that ring any bells Joe? Remember setting up a 3Wides tent at the flea markets NES holds every fall after the season ends? I remember bringing a bunch of stuff to show at the 3 Wides tent once or twice. That must have been like 2003 or so.

The bells are ringing Kevin -

I think I still have a chunk of Flemington asphalt for you... somewhere out in the garage. (I think it was Flemington???)

The tent set up (Thanks to Woody Nice) was a lot of fun....  One year we had a bunch of guest stop by like Bill Singer, Ray Neary and others.  Good memories for sure.

OMG Joe. I'd forgotten about the Flemington asphalt. It will look good next to my jar of EWS dirt. I'll get it eventually. 😁 Did I ever mention that I got an original Indy brick a couple years ago?

How did you get the brick - Did you go diggin' in the stream like they showed Junior doing when he was at Indy a few years back?

I know a guy. LOL. A friend in Indianapolis knew someone who had a couple bricks that were found during work being done near turn one. I traded him a case of Cheerwine for a 1909 Culver Block brick. Good trade for both of us.
