I've studied WWII since I was a little kid way too many years ago.  And yes, I do believe Churchill and FDR knew an attack was coming.  I don't think they knew the exact date and time, or just how devistating it would be.  And they knew it was the only way to get the US involved.  I doubt proof they knew will ever be uncovered during my lifetime.

To me, just as important as Memorial Day and Veterans Day. I remember buying savings stamps in school for War Bonds.

Thank you for those kind words; both my father and uncle served in WW2 , my dad in the Coast Guard and my Uncle Lou in the SeaBee's; dad attempted to join the Navy but his mom wasn't having it, so it was the Coast Guard. I feel it was a generation that will never be duplicated and had a pride for their country that will never me matched and many never returned or if they did, were never the same as when they left ! Thank you Dad and Uncle Lou for allowing all of us to live the lives we have because you choose to fight for our country like no others !!          Rob Johnson, Yardley, Pa

I'm sure a lot of us had it in our thoughts, but as the years go by, there are fewer that will remember, or will understand the significance of this date.  Thank you 45yrwallmodfan for your thoughts on the importance of this day.

In 1970, my dad took me to the Drive In that was where Tices LN intersects Rt 18 to see Tora Tora Tora.  He didn't talk much about his years in the military (during WW II), and we didn't really go to very many movies, but I guess this was a way for him to get some of the history and the significance of Dec 7th 1941 into this 9 year old's brain.

My father in law (who is still with us!) signed up with the Navy the following day. He was actually too young but his father signed off on it and off he went.

i 'm 68 years old born in1953-my parents generation  was ABSOLUTELY the greatest generation coming through a depression & world war--a lot of our "baby boomer" generation had it it prettty easy compared to the generation before us-

young people today ( my kid's generation) have not a clue about that era---japan & germany are

our allies now ; and they don't emphasize the history in schools anymore , as far as i can see--

be grateful for all we have because of that "greatest generation" !!

blessings !! -
