17 years ago, we brought you this discussion forum software.

After more than half a billion page impressions, and several years of development, we are about to release new forum software that builds upon all the features in the current software.

What we would like from you is a list of features & improvements you are looking for in the new version of the software.

Please let us know

1. What new features you think can improve the current software

2. What we can fix to make the experience better

3. Will this be a better experience as an App on both smartphone / Android / IPad etc?

We will gather all your feedback in try to incorporate as much as we can into the new version as we are ready to release it.

If you see someone respond with an idea, and you like it, please respond as well. We encourage multiple people asking for the same thing as this will help us to gauge the popularity.

Thanks for your time and input

Other than having to sign in virtually every time I go to 3w's, I'm basically happy with the format. Maybe it's me but I'd like to be able to post pictures from my android and not have to wait until I'm at my desktop.

We may put a feature in to quote the previous poster

Also, you should be able to upload from an Android (and  i-phone) in the next version

It ain't broke - don't fix it.  I do agree with D.Wolfe-358 that it would be nice to be able to edit one's own posts.  My @*&*&*^ keyboard has made mistakes a few times that I wish I had been able to correct.

As is is good. I don't like the quote deal because the answers get lost in repeated quotes, a little confusing, plus I read it once, I don't need to see it again and again.  Sorry Don!

Example of quote

Just bought the car? Maybe the last owner lost the keys and had a new ignition lock cylinder installed. If the battery goes dead you're screwed. Can you remove the door lock from the door? If so, take it to a locksmith who can make it fit the key for $20-$40. Or do that yourself by taking it apart and removing or rearranging the pins or wafers to match the key.

No, not really. We have thought about buying a downtown condo in San Antonio. But that would be probably sometime down the road.

The spacing is not as wide apart on quotes. As it shows up this Front Page platfoum. Lets face it this is could qualify as a relic from the past.

I agree with editing our own posts. Also would like the software to auto sign me in. I find that I reply to a post and get the dreaded "Someone has that User Name" notification.....meaning I need to go back to the main page and sign-in.

LOL. I have to laugh when I see someone post....."If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I'm just wondering if the top race car mechanics think that way? Probably not, or they wouldn't be at the top.

I suggested some changes to this forum many years ago and got shot down then. And was basically given the reason above. Also that there were amy 'old people' here that don't like change, which I thought to be ironic, given the subject matter here.

I'm 70. I built 2 race cars and drove both. Built a couple business's. Learned about computers back when we used tape drives for storage. I know people much older than me who now know their smart phones inside and out.

So yes, please. Update the forum. Finally. This is really old software. (like us;-)). But that doesn't mean it works well.

I'd like to see different categories. Call them folders or whatever. Not a lot, but enough to make it all make sense. Like maybe.....

Current News and Results (they could be two different categories)

Maybe a category for each well known track that's no longer here? Or not....maybe instead, categories for time periods? Much like the photos on the main site? I'm just throwing stuff out there.

I've never had issues posting photos. And not sure if videos can be posted, but links to YouTube or elsewhere are better. (saves your bandwidth)

And while not as important, a nicer design, maybe. I hearby volunteer to help with that, if needed.

That's all I can think of right now. Been taking a new online class and my brain is fried:-)

Oh...re using the forum on phones. I don't, but many people use their phones for everything. So yeah, having what they call a 'responsive site' would be good so that you could easily use the site on computers, phones and tablets.

Someone above mentioned being able to edit your post and I agree that it would be a good thing. I also would like topics commented on be bumped to the top of the page so they don't disappear.

1. Hopefully not having to log in every time. Been a registered user for many years, main reason I don't comment or post much anymore.
2. Ability for anyone to edit their own post or comment.
3. Make posting pictures easier.

(1) I would also like to see a way to edit our own posts or comments.

(2) Like to see a spell check.

(3) Add a help section for both the picture and message vault.

I'm 75 will be 76 pretty soon. I don't understand how we go from trying to make our cars better from week to week when we were young, learn new fabricating, technical, engineering skills, driving skills and thinking about the next car we want to build to a point where we don't want change when we get older.

There HAS to be a way that the software can keep us logged in or remember our password. Hell, it was an act of God to remember my username let alone my password !

Lenny - Let me know if that is happening on when visiting this site, or SJDR.  Also, include what type of phone you are using. (I remember having an issue like you are describing a few years ago, but haven't had it lately when using a Galaxy Note 8.... not sure if it a phone specific thing or something that the tech guys can address.)

For others having specific tech issues like the one above, feel free to use the "Report a Bug" feature near the top of this board.  Also, please include what you are using to access the site when you are having an issue (IPhone, Android phone, or if using a PC/Computer/Laptop/other, what browser you are using (Firefox, Chome, Edge, etc.,.)

Thanks.

The not saving your log in info even though you select the box to do so has been an issue for a while now.

Question:  If you click in the box where it is asking for your user name, does it then auto populate your user name and password, or do you still have to type both out to become logged in?

What I've found is that even if I click "log me in next time", when I return, I still have to click in the "user name" box, where it will then put in my info without me typing anything, and then I can continue on as "logged in."  It's not right, and hopefully tech guys can improve it, but wondering if that is what happens with you guys, or do you end up having to type your complete user name and complete password everytime.

Thanks.

Joe, it doesn't auto-fill either the username or password. The real drawback is that the generated password that was given to me when I click on the "forgot password" is a cluster f**k of letters, numbers and symbols. I do save that email that has the password attached, but eventually that email falls further back in the queue, and becomes more trouble than it's worth to find it. Perhaps a way to "change my password" button could alleviate that ?

When I log in, I click on the username box and a seperate box with my username and password appear. I click on that and it fills in the blanks, so to speak. The one thing I miss is when I'm on a thread far down the list and click out, it takes me back up to the top of the threads, instead of back to the thread I was on . . . . .

Edit feature is a biggie for me. I also cannot upload photos from my Android phone. I too have to log in every time now. It just started requiring that and never went back to saving my name and password.

If after reading a post you are clicking on "Return to Index", it will take you to the top, but I think if you hit the back arrow (which on my screen is on the upper lert of the page), it will take you back to the post/thread you had just been on.

Hope that helps.

I like the idea of an Android/iOS app.   Clean & simple, like the board is currently.
