Crowman, nice pic of Skinner's 659 which, in your photo, looks to be a 1937 Chevy coupe.  And I thought the coupe version(s) of the 659 were all 1936 coupes.  Learn something every day.  Scott Ely

Scott The photos of the 659 are Jim Halls not the crowman. We took these in the early 60s in the pits at WALL Not sure how Scott Riglemans name got involved. I kind of hope that he starts his show about local racing again' Jim Hall GSVSCC

I was the same way til I ran across this pic some years back. I have no info on the pic as far as year, photographer or location. I might have seen this one run but probably wouldn't have been keen enough back then to notice.

George, thanks for posting the great photo of Parker Bohn next to the 1937 (or 38) version of the 659.  My mom would take me to Wall just about every Sat night in the early 60s.  We were friends of the Moschera family and rooted for Augie and his son Jackie.  I remember when Parker would let off the gas entering turns 1 or 3, a large, long flame would shoot out of the inboard exhaust pipe.  Guess the old memory ain't what it used to be as I still can't remember only watching the 1936 coupe version of the 659.  Miss those hot rods from the 60s, and 70s!  Scott Ely

Guys Check out Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club on facebook. There was an excellent display of the 659 and related photos designed by Bill Force at the mortorsports show in Oaks Pa a few weeks ago. The other racers on display were the 659 Vega and the 65 Modified racer that Danny Bohn competes in and ran inTurkey Derby this past year. The truck that Danny drives in NASCAR was also on display. The display was set up by club members and Ray Shea. Thanks goes out to all who helped make all this possible. Eddie Bohn brought the 65 racer up from North Carolina on Thursday and new 659 Coupe owner Doug Megill drove and trailered the Vega up from South Jersey.

I didn't think there was much of a difference between a 36 and 37 Chevy Coupe. I went on line the 36 and 37 looked pretty close, in 36 Chevy had a 3 window coupe . What is the difference between the 36 and 37 Chevy Coupe?

Tom Skinner built alot of those coupes, many of the coupes ended up racing at P'ville in the sportsman class. Two of them were the 0 driven by Carl Griner  and the Lyons 65 driven bt Tony Siscone.

Loved going to Tom's Shop and Factory in the early 80's and 70's in Hammonton to buy tires, it was a big step back in history

Russ Dodge years ago (and Bob Byrd and Ray Neary) taught me that the 1937 (and I think 1938) coupes have the angled line through the door that is a continuation of the front fender.  It starts pretty high on the front leading edge of the door and then angles to the bottom of the door.  Also, the side roof drip rail on a 1937 & 1938 goes over both of the side windows.

On the 1936, their is no angle line through the door, and the drip rail only goes over the front side windows, but not the back side windows.

There is also some differences in the way the rear deck comes off the roof, but the fender continuation angle and the drip rail deal are usually what I look for first when trying to find out the difference between a 1936, and a 1937/1938.
