Good friend of the family (and especially my brother Darren)  Kevin Belmont used a Bicknell chassis he got from Darren to build a tribute replica of my dad's sedan from the '70's and is bringing it to Daytona for his father to drive at the North Turn Beach Parade this Saturday. They will then take it to race with DAARA at the spring nationals at Ocala in mid March. Kevin and his crew and family did all the work, I supplied as many pics as I could find (as well as 3 Wides!). My dad thought a lot of Kevin and I'm sure would have been happy with the finished project...

I think it came out pretty cool, whaddya think?

The chassis I started with was what Darren was putting together for his own. I tried to keep everything Darren did and put "The Old Mans's Sedan" on it. Found the body in a junk yard covered with brush and vines. Thanks to George Kerner, Uncle Vince Belmont, Dave Brooks, Andrew Belmont, and Uncle Tom Belmont.  Bob Lineman Jr, Mark Blackwell and Dave Adams for their parts and expertise too!!!

John- One word comes to mind looking gthe pics of 301, BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS!  (Guess thats 2 words).  Seeing these pics supports my thoughts that today's bodies, ugly in my opinion, should be done away with.  I know there are probably not a lot of the coupes, sedans, Falcons, etc around anymore, but I'll bet there are plenty of later model bodies just waiting to be given a second life as a sportsman or modified.  Hell, I don't care if its a Kia or Yugo!  Scott Ely

He and Fred DeGroot were car owners first from the early '60's to the end of '67 with Ed Farley as their driver. Dad started driving the 301 in 1968, moved to the modifieds with his sportsman in the middle of '69 and started driving for the McManns at the end of '70. He drove the 4 on and off until '75 (a couple races in '76 until Matt retired), built a new 301 in '73 and ran his own car until '84 with a few other rides sprinkled in (76,80,16, a couple other 1 offs). Thx so much for asking.

Outstanding job! It fooled me, I thought it was original at first. This goes to show that it is possible to make an old body on a modern chassis look right with the right amount of effort.
