Watched the racing at Port Royal on Flo yesterday, I was shocked by the low fan attendance. Two headliner classes plus the STSS, I believe if that show was at my local track, I would have been there. Maybe the coverage of the races by Flo racing did have an effect on attendance.

i too thought the att ndence was rather poor. I tend to think it was weather related. I thought the Flo coverage was really good. In fact I thought the three classes put in a good show. I was surprised Shepherd, Eckert and Stuhler didn’t run better. I would have liked to know what happened to Friesen’s car.If they said I missed it.How old are Cozze and Horton? Seems lik3 they’ve been around forever.

I was watching the Cup race on Fox and the Port show on my tablet. Wound up turning the Cup race off And concentrating on the Port.

It is Sprint Car/Late Model country. They hate Modifieds and I want to say they purposely don't come, even if Sprints/Late Models are on the schedule.  It almost feels like they snub them so they will go away!

Weather was also a big factor. What a great facility and track prep is almost second to none. Features were a bit dusty, but daytime, three divisons with big tires, it is to be expected. Thankful the wind was blowing away from the grandstands.

Broke the motor. Jeff Ahlum did'nt know until a later text. We did not diagnose, not sure what broke, but he was pretty fast before that.

I agree with Kevin, they gene don't like modifieds out there. I've heard them referred to as mud turtles or garbage trucks. Weather wasn't the best either.

Weather was the biggest factor.  And I hate to say it, but the sprint car fans haven't really accepted the taxi cab races in Central Pa yet.

Run the big block Mods either topless or topless with a 5X5 wing on top, no other aero equipment. Could call them Winged Dirt Supermodifieds

That's like putting lipstick on a pig. They still won't come!

Mr. Eyres, Now that's a very, very funny line!  Had to sit down after I read that one!  Maybe the next time the "Mod Squad" runs at a sprint car track, a few of the top guns should have a pig "all gussyed up", complete with lipstick, on the nose piece of their hot rods.   Scott Ely

I can understand why some sprint car guys don't like stock cars racing. I grew up liking stock car racing, when I watched the STSS races at Port Royal, the only races that I watched were the modifieds.

Some of the best races that I have ever witnessed were the "Run What You Brung" Modifieds back in the day at Bridgeport. It seemed like a good idea then and might just spice up things if a track or two would try it again now. It is an easy way to get the car to hook up. The Late Models still run topless occasionally, you can really se the drivers working the wheel. They could have it as the season finale.

I would put the blame for Sunday's attendance on the weather. Hell, even the sprint car fans didn't show up. Isn't the real question why don't modified fans support the races at Port? According to the drivers and other fans I've talked to the recent improvements there have made Port one of the premier facilities in the Northeast, but when I watched the big 3 day event last October on Flo, the stands were only 20% full at best. I know the camping issue contributed somewhat to the lower than expected attendance, but it doesn't fully explain why no one showed up.

Agree, weather was a big factor this year keeping the crowd down along with the high travel costs ( gasoline). Last year crowd was down as we were still dealing with the pandemic.

I agree Steve, where are the Modified fans? Sunday shows are tough when weather is iffy.  Between Grandview and Big Diamond there are fans close enough, but not there in big numbers.  Brett will make it work.
