Sat with Tony P, Budrick and my grandson AJ at the 410 show last night and Tony mentioned he'd been going to BP for 39 years. I told him I was at the inaugural race in 1972 as I watched Brad Brightbill win his heat race it reminded me that his father was the winner of that 1st race. I know he was driving his white sedan, but my question is...was it #57 or #19 at the time? 1st correct answer gets an attaboy!

#19, I was also at the very 1st race.  My father drove sportman #28.  That was the 1st track to allow women in the pits.  My girlfriend, now wife, was able to come in the pits instead of sitting in the stands alone.  She didn't appreciate the mud scraping job I gave her after the car came in from warm ups

Can't say I blame her with as heavy as the track was. Proved she was a keeper tho!

I too was at that first race with my father, still have the ticket stub. Honestly can't remember the number on Kenny's coach that day. Of course, I also don't remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

But who drove Leon Manchester's gold #7 coupe that day.  At least I think it was that day, if not it was one of the first shows.

Nice work there Rick -

For those who don't know, awarding an "Attaboy" around here is our version of giving out the Grandfather Clock, and Rick has a room full of......  Attaboy's.  Laughing

But it is always a good time sitting next to Lurch all night swapping stories.

And if you have yet to get to the new Bridgeport, you are missing out on what has become one of the best tracks around. The passing, the speed, the sight lines, everything. Outstanding design. 10000X better than it used to be.

Purely a guess here.  I'm going with Bobby Bottcher in Manchester's coupe.  Scott Ely

I'm not sure if it was opening weekend, but I know it was an afternoon show in the fall of 1972, Jan Opperman drove Leon's gold coupe.

Wassie Lynd was Leon's driver at that time. Wassie was the first to take a lap around the track in a private setting. Later on a press conference was held, a week or days later as Wait Taitt Sr took his 07 out first.
