Msg ID: 2728341 Rags Carter...as you never saw him!

In my research of stock car driver Alan “Rags” Carter’s career….following him from his Florida racing roots through to his successful racing exploits here in the Northeast, I have been honored to be delving through the Carter family’s personal scrapbook of Rags’ racing news clippings of his success both down South and in the Northeast.  What a treasure to look through.  Yeah, obviously, the pages of this scrapbook are aged, but they hold magic in the look back to the racing that Rags Carter participated in!  However, the scrapbook turned up two photos that I thought the racing public would find interesting…at least those of us who have been around the sport for fifty or sixty years!

Not only did Rags control a thundering race car with a powerful amount of horsepower under the hood!  However, Rags was just as adept at controlling 1 horse at a time!  Though I am told he wasn’t an equestrian…from these pictures…it sure seemed as though he was as comfortable on a horse as he was behind the wheel!  Photos used with permission of the Carter family.

Rags leading Jackie Evans in the Lux 77.  If my memory is correct, Jackie also spent time in the seat of a #73 coupe.
