Many years ago before I started the Howie Cronce 9c car, I was going to make a Kenny Brenn 24 Grant King copy. I purchased an older Olsen chassis and proceeded to cut it up to make it as close to a King car as I could. I ran into Kenny at a Flemington Speedway Historical society meeting one night and told him what I was doing. He said I would love to be part of that and if there was anything he could help me with, just ask. Well one thing lead to another and the Burnett chassis became available so I put the 24 frame aside and started the 9c with Jay Aten and the rest is history. It hurt me to tell Kenny that I was changing direction, but he understood. We got talking about Syracuse and he told me this story about a car that he designed and built. It was the year after the Batmobile which makes the year 1981. He said that they built a super wide frame within the rules and the body was just as wide. He told me that Dirt got wind of it and told them not to bring it to the track and banned it. Kenny said that they took the car apart and cut up the frame, but the body is in a barn up in Warren NJ. I said, go get it, and we'll put it on my Olsen frame. It'll be the car that never was. A few weeks later he told me that he went to the farm to try and get the body ( which was still in the barn) and the owner said no. Kenny said the guy knew what he had and thought it might be worth something. Well a few years later we lost Kenny and I have no idea where this barn is. I'm hoping to go to the Kenn Brenn Sr. 95th birthday party next month and talk to Ken Sr. and Jimmy Brenn to see if they know where it is. If any of you Ken Brenn ex pit crew guys know anything, give me a shout. Curious to know what it would have looked like.

I was fortunate enough to see that car 2 times when it was under construction! Unfortunately both times I kind of seen it from a distance as it was kind of pushed into the corner of the shop and was somewhat covered up.  If I remember corectly (this is going back over  40 years), I  think the first time I saw it was at Brenn's shop in Warren when it was about 75% done. Had the body on it but no paint. Then I saw it again when It was kept in the shop next door to Tony Feil's in Raritan. If I remember correctly Rolfe Schnur had a big part in the construction of the car and was hooked in with Tony somehow.

The one thing I do remember is ........when I first saw it I had no idea what I was looking at. My memory is a bit fuzy, but there was something really trick about the rear. It had either independant A arms or something similar to what the mods run today.

I'm sure Bill Humphrey (bill123), is the guy who would know the most aa he worked on all the Brenn cars..

the car was built to dirt rules the hood could only be as wide as the frame rails at the time there was no rule how wide the frame could be. The frame was almost to the outside edge of the front tires the hood just as wide we called it the barn door. It had an independent rear four speed trans, driver offset to the left, regular chevy steering box.Dirt found about it came to shop looked at it said don't bring it to the track, made a maximum frame width rule and that was the end of it. Work was done on the frame by Bob Dornheim. in Raritan NJ.

As best as I can remember Rolph Schnur had nothing to do with the car.

I remember this car. It never had a front end under it. Definitely had an independent rear. Harry Steinkopf painted the body yellow but I never saw it assembled yellow. Kenny told me if they were able to decide the type of front end before the 80 race they thought they would have had something for the 112. That's all I know.

One night after the races in the pits at East Windsor, I was walking down towards the pit building. Mr. Brenn was being harassed up by some crew members. I immediately found and interrupted Kenny who was talking to Gary Balough. They asked me where, I pointed it out and they both ran down to the confrontation. Needless to say all hell broke loose. Had to be 1977. The next Friday night there were bid dirt piles up blocking the entrances. Jones cancelled the Brenn lease and cancelled the rest of the season

Great story RuCu. In honor of Ken Brenn Sr's. 95 birthday coming up, lets all share some Brenn stories. I know Jimmy frequents this site. Maybe he'll jump in and share some too. I found some more pictures of that Olsen car that I'm starting to believe was designed specifically for Syracuse too. But I'm still really interested in the ( Car that never was) story. Here's those Olsen pictures.

I contacted Rolph Schnur and he said he was not involved with the mystery car.
