I recently completed lettering the restoration of Freddy Harbach's 1982 Troyer Pinto modified. Car is owned by Freddy's son in law Alex Kitzen, who lives in Goshen, NY. Car is the last Pinto body built new by Troyer. Alex also has Freddy's last car (won the last race he ever drove at Riverhead), that car I touched up the original lettering, plus the number 18 coupe he drove in the late sixties. Alex runs all three cars in vintage events, his garage and man cave is a shrine/ museum to the Flying Dutchman.

Beautiful! A piece of art with aV-8 and 4 wheels!  Not to take away from your perfect lettering job on Freddy's Pinto, but I always thought his X-89 coupes and sedan with the gold leaf numbers were at the top of my favorites list for asphalt hot rods of the 60s and 70s.  Scott Ely

Awesome job Rick. You really nailed it! A tribute to one of the nicest guys in racing. When I took over new Egypt speedway in 1991, one of the first drivers I called to come to our open modified race was Fred Harbach and he couldn't be any nicer. Was excited to come back to new Egypt and I always appreciated that he came with no requests. Awesome guy!

freddy would always run wall well. was a top points getter for years at the turkey derby. i can still see as a 13 year old in october sitting in the fouth turn at wall. you wait and hope knowing the long island tracks were closed. then a fire engine red bumber would poke out of the pit gate the hair on the back of your neck would stand up. you knew the long island posse had come down to run withour boys. if thier was one thier was 10-15 they came in packs. hell i am getting goose bumps just writing this. what a magical time in my years of watching the mods. some of the best racing ive seen the long island boys would tip to the outside in the feature and it was on usally jim hendrickson would start the freight train. belive me those boys ran flat out ran.

It's the number 18 Freddy Harbach drove in the late sixties. I'm scheduled to letter it next year, getting repainted. It was originally restored 40 years ago.
