My son went to North Wilksboro for the modifieds and said the place was sold out, not a seat to be found.  He said the track eat tires but that's no surprise. Going to go with him the end of the month for the late model shows before the rip it up for the dirt shows in October. Haven't been to a race in almost 11 years so it should be a good couple of nights.

I went both nights. The place was PACKED! I expected good crowds but they came out of the woodwork for these races. Complaining about anything is pointless given the status of the track as recently as 6 months ago but they really need to address the temporary lights. Probably the darkest race track I have ever been to. Dark to the point of it being a safety issue for the drivers. I hung around for some of the B-modified race on Wednesday and it was dark enough that I couldn't see the numbers on some of the cars as they went by me under caution. It still needs alot of TLC but it was two great nights. For probably a decade I said to anyone who would listen that NW was gone, beyond repair and never reopening. I'm glad I was wrong. It will look even better in Ocotber I'm sure and it will look unrecognizable when they hold races in 2023

The pic is from Night 1.
Modifieds were the first feature...Perfect!
The abrasive track made for a very interesting first half of the race...very entertaining. Then, of course, backmarkers had to bring out the caution on a couple of occasions. Lapped traffic later came into play with the leaders.
Looking forward to the dirt. Hope they can open the grandstands in turns 1 and 2 by then.

11 year old Paulie Hartwig won both B mod/crate features. Some of you may know his Dad, Paul Hartwig.

Forgot to mention it but hot dogs were $2. You could get a Chili slaw dog, a bag of chips and a can of Coke for $5. A very tasty dog with all the slop on it. I also got a double scoop chocolate cone for $3. Triple scoop is $5. Theres no permanent concession stands yet but they had more than enough local businesses selling food out of trailers.
