Just read in the latest AARN that Trenton's Dick Taylor has passed.  Dick was a top running limited sportsman driver in the 60s and 70s at Flemigton and East Windsor.  He was well liked and know to be a very clean driver.

The first photo is of Dick and his wife at the 1968 season's end AARN banquet.  I recall that Dick was Windsor's limited sportsman champ that year.  This photo was taken by Ruth Ely, my mom.  I own the photo.

The next 2 photos are of Dick's 36 Chevy coupe, and the Studebaker that replaced the coupe.  These photos were taken by Ace Lane. I also own these photos.

I was always amazed about how Dick, a top competitor, would go out of his way to help my guy, Chic Ronan, usually a mid pack runner.  A genuinely good guy.  I miss him.

Scott Ely

When we first started going to EWS Dick was the man to beat in the sportsman class.

That's exactly how I remember it too Bob.  One of the first cars/drivers that I first locked in on in my early (very early) years at East Windsor.  I was probably around 7 or 8 years old, but remember that red and white coupe like it was yesterday.

My condolences to sons Rich and Mike, and to the entire Taylor Family on the passing of Dick Taylor.

Sorry to hear. My memory of Dick was his car leaping the fence at Flemington and landing outside the first turn crossover gate.
