Went to Grandview as a paying spectator in the stands. 

Likes: Great field of cars as usual. Track was in great shape and the new lighting installed before the beginning of the season certainly continues to improve the enjoyment at the track. I believe all the speakers were replaced also and the volume and clarity were spot on. The wingless Super Sportsman were there also, and management kept the show running at a very economical pace with very little down time. Jeff Ahlum manages to name all the cars in the line up before the green flag is dropped. You simply can't beat the racing at Grandview. Von Dohren, Kressley, Strunk and Buckwalter all having to go through the consi to qualify.

Dislikes: and this is a HUGE dislike for me !! The "pastor" or "reverend" imposing his beliefs during the invocation. Do we really need, and I quote , " Father God, please help our country to rise out the deep disrepair that it is currently in and Father God, help us to Make America Great Again..." C'mon man !

When going to Grandview, no matter where you sit, you're never more than two people away from somebody that's smoking.

Suggestions for Improvements: the usual grandstand boards, bathrooms, etc., but knowing what we know, I'd be happy to squeeze my 2022 self in front of a urinal that was made for the size of a 1968 man, to have the place stay open for a few more years.

Will I be returning: I have a 3:00pm wedding next Saturday, and gonna feel the warden out over the week to see how she feels about me bailing on that around 6. Will definitely be returning for the Sixer!

I've never seen the tshirt/decal/hat place be so crowded. There was a line there all night ! I swear that I feel deep down in my gut that we're gonna be getting an announcement stating that next year will be the final year so that the track can have a proper send off....or maybe it's wishful thinking .

LIKES: Looks like NES has added new clay, darker than before.  Track was real racy, especially the outside groove in the 1st and 2nd turns.  The last feature was over around 10:15 pm.  Sitting with 3Widers Joe McFarland and Don Wolfe. For me, my most enjoyable night at NES in awhile.  

DISLIKES: The number of modifieds (21?).  But, that's par for the course these days.

So the pastor should not comment about praying for America's decline to end?  Its hard to believe anyone would dislike that so much. We used to have  real freedom of speech in America, but these days the speech is only free if you are on the chosen point of view.  I pray every day for our country to be saved from where it is now.  I guess the good news for you is that once Grandview is gone you won't have to hear anymore offensive comments like that from the pastor.

Not putting much here about New Egypt, other than attending as a fan in the stand.

Enjoyed the last laps of the Sprint Race and the Street Stock feature. Not a fan of Match races at all. However enjoyed watching the Match race between Bouc and Grasso. Then later enjoyed the match between Bouc and Louden Reimert's battle with Louden taken the lead.

Bridgeport Likes .......great surface, great racing, great atmosphere  Dislikes...........can the "this land is your land"and just do the anthem.  car counts are light in some divisions , the show could be speeded up a little. I will be back as long it stays in business and runs modifieds

Planned race chasing turned out to be a bust.

1) Darlington SC: Saturday for the Xfinity race, rain delay after completion of 1st. stage. Mainly attended so  my son could get a new track. Didn't have the patience to wait out the rain or track drying and headed home. We made it back to the house in tine to see the exciting last few laps.

2) Tyler County, West Virginia: Planned on going for the Hillbilly 100, but had to pass due to a family matter. The event got rained out anyway and has been rescheduled.

Against my better judgement, I drove the 5+ hours one way to Tyler County Speedway only to get rained out. Spent about 5 minutes there and drove home. The trials and tribulations of race chasing...
Have not been able to get many shows this year so I took a chance. At least I didn't have airfare, hotel and car rental expenses....but yes it sucked!

I agree with you on the  pastor thing. If I want to go to a house of worship I'll go to a synagogue if want to hear the other nonsenese that the pastor said I'll watch it on TV or go to a  rally of my choice.

Actually, both sides likely think we're in a decline...just depends on your point of view as the what the decline is.

My nephew came down from NJ to the house we went to darlington on sat. also didn,t wait out the rain headed back to Manning couple steaks on the grill watched the end of busch race. Then headed back up for the cup race good show shame Martin couldn't have gotten the win but cool seeing Eric get the win.

I agree with you on the grandstand at Darlington.  They need to install the larger JUMBOTRONS. The existing ones are to small. If the backstrech seating is not being used (Covered with sponsor banners), then that area could be used for larger units that would enhance viewing for the grandstands. 

A sore back from too much yard work earlier on Saturday morning had me change up my race plans of a roadtrip, in favor of going somewhere closer to home as sitting in a car for any length of time was super uncomfortable (unfortunatley, still is 2 days later, but definitely getting better.)

New Egypt - Attended as a fan in the stands - $20 admission  (Arrived at 6pm - Show complete around 10pm.) 

Modifieds, Crates, Wingless Sprints, Street Stocks, and Match Races/Call Outs for the top Modified Drivers

Likes:  New surface (black gumbo? lol) provided multi-groove, side by side racing. Drivers who were asked had positive comments about the surface.  Rick Laubach used a front row spot to capture the win in the non stop modified feature, and Danny Bouc put on a show coming from way back in the back to finish 2nd 3rd.  Brendan Hires caught everybody's attention using the upper groove to make his way to the front in the Wingless Sprint feature, and then took a more conservative line to hold on for the win.  Spider Ensinger Jr drove a perfect race to take the win over Bill Liedka in the a very exciting Street Stock feature, that came down to the last corner of the last lap. 

Very good atmosphere.  Announcers were more upbeat than my last few visits in early 2021 which to me, made for an enjoyable fan experience as I always feel that the announcer(s) where ever I go, are my host for the evening, and have a lot to do with setting the overall tone.

Liked the drama of the Modified Match/Call Out races.  Announcer Nick Leach does a great job building up the drama when he sticks the wireless mic in the car and asks the driver who they want to call out next.  It worked well when Buffy Swanson ran them back in the 2000's, and it was good to see them as part of the show once again. 

Show moved along well.  Started on time.  No down time between events... Heats rolled out one after the other.  There were very few times that the field had to take an extra lap for the tower to get the line up straight - Drivers did a good job on their own of knowing what position they belonged in prior to the next green, which kept the momentum of the show at a good level. 

Intermission was maybe 35 minutes or so, but a well organized redraw at the base of the homestretch stands (featuring give aways for the drivers), and a Back to School backpack giveaway, keep all engaged while some pre-feature track prep took place.   The feature was ready to go just as the intermission giveaway events were wrapping up, so there was no dead time in between.

Dislikes:  Didn't like where track personnel were standing on the inside of the frontstretch at the starting line, during the match races.  Granted, it's only two cars racing at once, but for anyone that's been going to the races for any amount of time, it doesn't matter if it's one car, or 30 out there...  No reason for anyone to be that close to the racing surface while cars are at speed.

Going back within a month:  Probably.  Good atmosphere, good racing...  Glad I made the trip!

I agree Joe. Racing was great. I was thinking the same about the officials being so close to a hot track.
