As per AARN Tue 9/20/2022 page 41 article. 75 laps $5G to win for the Outlaw Open Modified Series and only 9 cars showed up. I thought New England was the hotbed for asphalt Modifieds? Ryan Preece won over Ronnie Williams and Mike Christopher Jr. Prob with OOMS rules or procedures? Prob with Wed night? Every track has off nights at some point, but this doesn't bode well for the future. Is it the track itself, the Promotors or what? Maybe just a reflection of the current economy? It looks like a car count in the "Teens" is considered a good car count anymore. Or am I just spoiled that we used to see 18-20 cars in heat races back in the day!

that was bad,   but Stafford is gonna get 50+ at their "Tri Track Race" this Saturday

Waterford got over 40 for theirs

I think because mid week and Thompson ?  The owners really don`t care about oval track racing anymore  more of the sports car club stuff i`ve read.  They rent it out for the modifieds

It's pretty sad. Thompson was one of the nicest, well run tracks on the East coast. They had three Mod races that were part of the Northeast traditional races. The Ice Breaker in late March-early April, the Thompson 300 in mid September, than the World Series in Mid October.

The Fall in Modifieds rivaled what dirt has now. You had the 300, the Race of Champions, the World Series then Martinsville.  Thompson always had it tough because they ran on Sunday in the 70's and Thursday nights in the 80's and 90's.  I never knew why Thompsn did not run Saturdays, because they were much bigger than Waterford and Stafford owned Friday's.  Saw a lot of great races there and miss going there every Fall.
