I found this interesting video on youtube from Middletown 2019 of a big crash due to flash rain.

That was the $100,000 to win Centennial race. Jessica Friesen was the first to tip toe by unscathed. I guess that bottom feeder, slick track, sprint car style she is so good at, helped.

The Petruska 66 with Tommy Meier got the worst of that wreck, complete junk.  That wreck was more than the purse! The racing was mediocre at best before that rain, it was the absolute best after .

The story behind that wreck was not good.

We had one of those at NES. I think it's been mentioned here before. John Mc. remembers it I'm sure.

I remember it to Kevin Mc.  I was in the tower that day at New Egypt.  Started raining (pouring) in turn 1 just as the first Super Stock/Late Model? heat of the night was getting the green flag off of turn 4.  Bad deal.

It may be the many years clouding (no pun intended) my memory, but I almost remember that it was kind of a sunny day... No rain or sprinkles leading up t the sudden downpour.

It was a clear day Joe. A summer squall popped up way out behind turn 2. I remember mentioning it on the radio. It was clear and then it was a downpour in turns 1 and 2. People were losing their minds online that weekend (of course). What were we thinking not going yellow when we knew there was rain nearby?!!? I stand by what I said then; are we supposed to go yellow every time it might rain or if theres rain nearby? I'm sure fans would sit patiently while we all sat around not racing while waiting to see if it was going to rain eventually or not, right?

I was in the pits at bridgeport, big track helping John Micek.  The green flag was thrown ,as the modifieds came down the back stretch it started to rain in turns 3 and 4.  Cars were wrecking and Mike Franz flipped out of the track.
