I was 100% a dirt track fan when I was a kid....  Drove by New Egypt when it was a paved track going up and down Rt. 539 back and forth between Barnegat and South Brunswick a kazillion times and barely even noticed it...  It was Flemington (dirt) and EWS for me just about every race weekend, and the only time I'd end up at Wall would be if Flemington rained out early enough that we didn't make the trip.

These pictures now remind me why even as a dirt track fan, why I enjoyed going to Wall...  It was how cool I thought the cars looked.  Vegas, Pintos, and more... all with the engines totally visible, the headers.... and either injectors or a big old air cleaner sticking up through the hood.  (I also always thought the venue was really cool too - how you walk up to the top row of the grandstands which are at what seems like ground level, with everything all in easy view directly down in front of the stands.)

Thanks for posting these "home grown" photos.

Great pictures. Gil was one of my fathers favorite people (mine too). So many great cars and drivers. Asphalt top shelf car owners are well represented in these pictures.
