Billy Osmun's 828 crew, 41 years ago today, on October 9, 1981, at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse NY, during one of those times when Super Dirt Week was more like Super Sloppy Mud Week.

I wasn't there, but sure looks to me like that picture captures the "feel" of the day...

Thanks Jack.

As bad as we always thought Syracuse was it was much better than Oswego.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but seems to me that there must be another venue that SDW could move to. People just aren't adapting to the current SDW option.  Just thinking about the costs to truck the dirt into and out of Oswego should cover the rental of a ready to go track. Just my thoughts...

Watching it on DIRTVision, the track looked great. They changed some scheduling around to start the races a little later, almost at night.  I heard from a lot of friends who went that getting out of there late Sunday was not popular at all.  Have the Small Block 150 Friday night and Big Block 200 Saturday and save Sunday for the rain date. They worry too much about the "party" and not the racing, and this is coming from someone who likes to party a little!

My brother Larry and I were talking about it yesterday. The starting time at 5pm is about the time we were heading down the Thruway from Syracuse thinking about getting home with enough time to catch a few winks before being on the jobsite on time. As you said to much going on for one weekend. Having said that I know it's about dollars.

Running on the mile made for a challenging race, drivers did not run too many races on a mile track and in my opinion made for a more challenging and interesting race.

Also looking at the drivers roster the field of drivers were mostly New York and some Canadian drivers, I only counted 2 drivers that run Bridgeport.
