Maybe Flo racing has really kicked in and hurts the crowds at race tarcks. I'm guity of it!

Port Royal is one of the best facilities in the Northeast. The Modifieds put on a great show there year after year. The STSS is very well run with tight schedules. Other than Port Royal being in the heart of Sprint Car Country, I can't figure out why the fans don't go. Tired of seeing the same guys up front? Too cold in the Fall? Not going to races anymore?

Went as crew in the pits.  Give the show an A++ as a crew member. 61 Modifieds, 75 Sportsman, and 15 Pro Stocks.  He knew he was not getting a lot of them, but gave them a new place to race. Pits were packed. Port Royal has a good size pit grandstand with plenty of seats. The lighting is the best of any short track I have ever been to. The sound system is excellent. The food and bathroom facilties are very good and clean.

The show flowed excellent other than some pretty tough Sportsman wrecks. The racing was very competitive and very entertaining from front to back.  No intermission other than Victory Lane and no long drawn out driver introductions. No unneeded track prep. Very light dust. Brett Deyo and his team really get it and the announcers were excellent. I don't get why people don't go. Very light crowd  Brett paid $50,000 to win during a pandemic when no other tracks were racing!  I hope he sticks with this race.

I know there a few 3 Widers there and hope to hear from them.

OK, I'll chime in. First trip there--shorter drive than I expected and what a great first-class facility--reminded me of the upgraded Weedsport. Deyo runs a great show and the only thing keeping my grade at an A (and not an A+) is that he ran the sportsman feature first which became its own "marathon".  Hope he runs this race every year cuz I will be there!

I believe we've had the same conversation before the concensus opnion was that it was sprint car country they just don't like Modifieds. If my memory is correct I believe somebody said the fans call the Modifieds 'Mud buses". Solution don't run them at Port Royal.

Mud Turtles. Solution...Support these events or enjoy 30 lappers paying $1200 to win week after week! Actually a Mud Buss was Maynard Troyers version of the Dirt Car in the 80's and 90's named after his girlfriend Dawn Buss.

Getting old I knew it was mud something now I remember the Troyer Mud Buss Cool I like the regular shows, I attend Bridgeport every week if they only ran a 30 lap modiified feature with a sportsman and street stock class I'd be there every week like I am now. Years ago this how they ran with a big race at the end of the year  Langhorne, Trenton and Syracuse. These type dirt modifieds basically only run in the Northeast some in the south and  in Canada I don't think having multiple organizations competing for fans and sponsors is  the answer either. NASCAR finally got it why they were failing short track racing will never get it pretty, soon there's only going to be one short track along with one drive in movie in NJ.

Combination of Flo, long ride, sprint track..........great show but sportsman shoulda been last.........might have saved some tire wear......and made it a little racier for the mods.  I don't like the big 2 finishing 1   2 all the time but they have proven to be the best especially in the longer events.

Maybe the reason the crowd is always down for this show is because it's the weekend after Super Dirt Week ?

I think there are a few reasons why this race is not attended as we think it should. It is the week after SDW , and after being up at Oswego for days you travel to Pa and do it again, many folks cant swing it in todays econonmy.I also believe that Port Royal is Central Pa and no matter what it will always be sprint car country and the majority of those  fans just are not intrested in our modifieds.I also think many watch it on Flo, thats what I did this past weekend.I really want this race to be a block buster sucess, god knows Brett puts 100 percent into it and its run extremly well.I wonder if maybe moving this race to the spring would see it attended by more fans, I think its possible and could be an alternative, I dont know for sure, just throwing it out there....October is just so crammed with big races that its nearly immpossible for the average fan to attend them all...but we do have live streaming which means less asses in seats.

had what I would consider a very nice crowd for their STSS Elite race.

Cherokee in Gaffney, SC is a lot further away from Modified Country than Port Royal.

I'll go with it being a week after SDW.

I remember a while back hearing someone say that Central Pa race tracks couldn't compete with high school football once fall hit.

When STSS runs at the Port, (playing devils advocate here) Deyo should let the Modifieds run topless. He already has like 15 different motor combos. Replace the roof with a 5x5 foot 25 square foot top wing. Let them run the real big RR and LR tires. In that configuration they might just possibly put on just as good or even a better show than the beloved 410 sprint cars do. Run Triple 40 feature events with full invert.
