Interesting article about the financial status of Nascar. Read what Jeff Gordon said in this interview about Hendrick Motorsports.

Good, I hope azzcar folds up with their silly playoffs and the franchising of the teams. USAC should resurrect their Grand National Stock Car Series, or whatever it was called. Let them run for 30% of the gate $$ like back in the day. Run "stock cars". Anyone should be able to build a car as long as it is safe and to spec. Then the car owners wouldn't have to spend a gazillion dollars on a car, and the drivers would not be out to kill each other. Bring "sport" back into the sport. JMO

For proving my point on the post I made a few weeks ago. You are shinning example of racings own fan base rotting for it's demise.

In 2007 my wife and I were going to buy Express Motorsport truck team in nascar. This team won the championship and we had a top driver and everything set to go. We had our sponsor lined up which had to be approved by NASCAR. Well NASCAR stole our sponsor and made them the official sponsor of something and after looking at the fact that there purse for winning wouldn't have paid my tire bill we said forget it .Smartest move we ever made. NASCAR doesn't write checks, just deposi slips. Are they to big to fail we will see. Maybe a series owned buy some big money guy who ownes half of NASCAR tracks and some money guys should look a smaller version of NASCAR fewer races, smaller budgets, and fairer purses. It has been talked about before so just never know.

The simple answer to the original question is yes if tv ratings and race attendance don’t increase dramatically in the next two years. And this does not appear to be likely to happen. Sponsorships are totally based on those numbers. The loss of Camping World and M&M’s is huge. Not just monetarily but from a publicity stand point. It demonstrates the lessening value of sponsorship in the sport. When a two time champion from a top caliber team can’t find sponsors what does that tell us?

One thing I feel is that the France Family i# going to have to give up some of the tv money at some point. The charter system has created a stronger more organized owner’s group. Because of the Cart-URL split travesty we will not see a repeat of that. However an owners boycott of a few races could lead to disaster.

One thing I think that has to happen, and this applies to most forms of auto racing, is cost# have got come down. Even a hobby stock at a local bull ring will set you back ten thousand dollars to race for a three hundred dollar feature win.

Reality is the new woke regime in Nascar listens to everyone but it's competitors. Issues were apparent day one on th next gen car.  Nascar ignored it.  Steering issues and also drivers getting hurt in testing was hushed by Nascar telling teams NOT to Talk about it or else!  The only way it is now a concern is Drivers telling press the real deal about safety.  Now the owners group going through the press to get their voices heard. That is very telling of the regime in power.  All they care about is $$$ not the product on track or it's teams.  ALL of the woke in charge NEVER had any experience with racing. This is your result

I blame the owners for all this. Nobody told them years ago to go out and buy those big enclosed trailers and all the other stuff, etc.

I feel part of the reason 2 time champion Kyle Busch's team couldn't find a sponsor is self inficted by Kyle Busch himself.
