Hate to burst your bubble Don, but Lincoln is about the worst modified track I have ever been to. Went with Stew for the Super Dirt Car Series and it was bad. That was the night I learned Sprint car tracks generally do not make good Modified tracks. Willams Grove and Selinsgrove follow suit. Port Royal is the exception, but it is also a great late model track. |

Would the track be better if they ran the Modified feature before the Sprints or it does not matter ? |

Having seen a hundred shows at Lincoln, there's no way that any division's feature will hit the track before the 410's. |

MODCAR ran a race at Lincoln in the early 80's. Kenny Brightbill won and we ran 2nd. I thought it was a good show. Of coarse, our modifieds back then had big tires and injected big blocks. |

Not trying to be critacle in any way, but just trying to get history correct If I remember correctly MODCAR did not run injectors nor drag tires. In 1978 and 1979 Reading went to all carburators and had a 95 inch tire rule. At that time carburators were used at Nazareth, Middletown and Flemington and as I remember we ran low profiles at all those tracks.. They ran the tri track series and we participated as a Nazareth team member and finished in the top ten in final points in 1979 as a Nazareth team member. I was the iniitial MODCAR VP of Public Relations and on the Board of Directors in 1980. MODCAR may have gone to larger tires after 1980 so I am not positive about that. But I cannot imagine everyone buying new motors for a weekly series. The initial MODCAR race was in Delaware and if you ran that day I probably signed you into the MODCAR sheet, so thanks for your participation in the series. I cannot find my folder on MODCAR meetings, etc, at the moment but if I find that my memory is not 100% correct I will let you guys know. |

The Mid Atlantic Modifieds have run there twice a year up until this year. Could be a return of e-mods. |

If I remember the 360' s were there. Mods like sweeping corners better than paper clip type. Stew, who was very good in a sprint car, got lapped that night. Danny Johnson won. No passing at all and bery few cautions
I will try to find it in the DIRTVision archives and refresh my memory . |

only seen modcar at lincolin but remember it was a good show.as far as at selinsgrove port royal never really seen a bad show and modifieds were always good at the grove. big or small block. i would think at lincolin it would be a spec 358 show so it should be good. |

Broke out the "back up brain" and found a couple of pic's from The Battle at Lincoln in 2012. The Doctor was the winner with the 88c (Godown driving I think) and Jimmy Phelps the top 3. Pauch drove the 126 with a lower railed chassis up front. Wasn't my favorite modified race. Not much passing. Agree with Kevin Eyres. The 360's victor was Daryn Pittman in the Heffner 27. One of my first trips to Lincoln Speedway.

I took the ride out there with you that night Kev. I remember that the leaders all fell in line behind the lap cars once they caught them because there was nothing left of the track above the very bottom line. |

Thank you Allan and Joe. That was many races ago but I remember leaving there and thinking how bad it was. I hope it was only a bad night there, but I know one thing, THERE WILL BE NO SPRINT CAR FANS THAT NIGHT TO SEE IT! YES, in capitals! Mayyyybe Steve Cameron though. LOL |

LOL! Not to worry Kev, I won't be there. Haven't been out since the '20 Icebreaker. No plans to do so down the road either. |
