Anyone else out there besides for Paul (flamincars) who ever made it up to the crows nest? (I'm assuming that's where the picture is from )

What about the "Purple Room?"  Anybody out there ever get an invite to the Purple Room?

Yea, I went up there more than once to help my mom to score and took some photo's while I was there.  My mom went into the Purple Room many times.  She had some of the photo's that were on the walls when they were closing.  She told me some great stories for sure.

I got to visit the Crows Net when I was announcing for the United Sprint Car Club (aka VW Sprints). It is also the day I got to meet Bill Singer when he passed the mic to me. I never got to race at Flemington but at least I can say I called a race there.

paul invited me the night we won the LM feature opening nite on asphalt. 

On the day that he died, Bill Singer was (appropriately) the MC for the Flemington reunion at the Flemington Department Store directly across the road from the track. During a break in the interviews, a lady walked up to Bill and pointed to the crow's nest, visible from there, and asked how it feels seeing that, where he spent so many Saturday nights? Bill replied that he jokingly asked Paul Kuhl if they could move it to his backyard when demolition started. 20 minutes later, Bill was gone. 

Not that it needs to be confirmed, but I was standing right next to you Rick and remember it exactly as you do, word for word.

I won a few in 1976 and Paul invited me up to the Purple Room..My crew was not allowed just me so I declined (not nicely either)...They helped me get there and I would not do that to them...HtH

I to was there that day, my mom was next to him also.  They spent countless nights together in the crows nest and for anybody that never seen that vantage point, all I can say is holy crap  It was nerve racking climbing those stairs over the roof to get inside and i was used to heights.
