We left this one on the large size as there's a whole lot going on in what is probably an early 70's image from photographer Nelson Ivins:

Comments welcome such as which drivers you can identify, what part of the track that the accident is occuring, and maybe even at least one of the names of those up in the photographer's stand, and what passenger car is in the bottom right up against the fence.  (By the way, did anyone else out there ever watch a race from the back of a pickup parked along the infield fence at Langhorne?  That's how we did it for both Indycars and the Modifieds.)

I forgot about that part of it John... Probably no PA either where we parked inside turn 1.

I was probably 9 or 10 at the time at the time this picture was taken, so might not of been paying that much attention, but I do remember I thought the cars were really cool and it was also pretty cool to go up to where the snack bar was which if I remember correctly, was up near the pits with the drivers and crews separated by a fence from us infield "general admission" spectators.  I remember kids running their minibikes on the infield dragstrip too, all part of the infield experience.

I also remember one year it rained at the end of the event, and a lot of the spectators cars in the infield got stuck in the grass/mud, and folks were helping to push by hand to help folks get on their way.  Not sure if the rain happened at an Indycar event or a modified event.

#98 Dick Havens ? maybe ?

For 2 or 3 seasons I was one of the kids on a minibike in the infield...Around 1964-65..I remember Mike Grbac borrowing somebodys muscle car and beating most competitors on the drag strip..The good old days..

Looking at my programs, I'd say this was possibly the consolation race in 1970. If so, that would be Tommy Corellis in the 24, Cliff Tyler in the #21 Camaro and Bill Brainard in the 98 (although it looks very similar to a 98 driven by Ron Narducci, but he wasn't listed as an entrant).

That positively is Ron Narducci car #98.

Langhorne only had turn 1 !  lol  It started at the starters stand and ended at the starters stand!

1953-55 Ford pickup behind Pontiac.

I remember sitting in Frankie Schneider's garage one day and him telling me about Langhorne. He said there was this one section of the track that had a whoop-di-do in it. When you hit it your stomach went up but your body stayed seated and it would make you nautious hence the term puke hollow. I have a few pictures given to me by Kevin Dexheimer that he or his dad took. They are on the front stretch getting ready to start the race. Maybe some of you can fill in the blanks.
