New section added to The Vault, brought to you with support from:


"Vintage Modifieds"

You guys all know that this forum, along with our main site (3 Wide's Picture Vault), is about appreciating the history of our area's modified short track racing, and vintage race cars are a huge part of that. 

Whether original cars left unrestored... or cars that have been meticulously restored.. or tribute cars carefully recreated to provide us all with a life size representation of those cars that we thought we'd never see again...., all provide great memories of some of our most favorite times.

Skilled craftsman have put in countless hours restoring/recreating and doing everything else necessary to bring these cars to life, and they, along with many others do whatever has to be done (provide  maintenance, storage, transportation) to make them available so that they can be seen, and enjoyed.

As a way of showing our appreciation for those who make it all possible, we recently took some time to go through our digital folders containing pictures of vintage cars that have their roots in the NJ/Eastern PA area, that we've seen at various events over the past 15+ years, and decided to put together a "Vintage Dirt Modified List" and a "Vintage Asphalt Modified List."

The challenge in putting together any type of list, is in making it complete.  We know there are many more cars out there... maybe sitting under a tarp in a garage... maybe sitting in a field wasting away ... And while there's no way of listing them all, we thought we would start here... with those pictures we had taken over the years, of the vintage modified stock cars that we've enjoyed seeing up close... that help us all remember when....

If you see any info that needs to be corrected, let us know the car # (which car if there are more than one with the same #), and whether it's dirt or asphalt page, and we'll review/correct.

A great section in the vault!  For me, it brings back those memories of racing when I was a kid, a great time in my life.  And this section contains something you rarely see very anymore, a full field of hot rods!   Scott Ely

Really neat--thanks!!!!  The 63 pic reminded me that my high school bus drove past Ironton Auto Body every day, and I always tried to peek inside.

The picture of Randy Bok's # 2 is wrong,,,,it's a car 6a...not Randy's #2 Falcon at Nazareth...just FYI

AND you could put #23 of Ed Lilley in BOTH asphalt and dirt since he raced this coupe @ Dorney Park (asphalt) Saturdays and on occasion Sunday's @ Nazareth (dirt)

There's quite a few cars that could go in both Asphalt and Dirt.  I chose one or the other based on my memory of the car/driver, but like you said, could go either way or both.
