Not sure, but looks like maybe some forge marks on the front edge of block that would make it steel. |

Okay, I'll bite, I haven't been keeping up with current tech. What is that thing, a pavement mod version of a Cup engine? |

It's a NASCAR mod motor
there's a spec engine, or you can run a custom built
Matt runs one of each, one in the red car, the other in the black car |

Thanks, I'm curious about the "platform", or whatever you call it. I suppose that's a racing, carbureted distributor version of a GM LS, LS2 or 3? |

I'm guessing that this beautiful beast is a Ford. If I'm wrong its because my days in the sport were in the 60s and 70s, working on small block Chevies (302 & 327). Scott Ely |

Scott the newer GM LS heads have a different exhaust port design than older heads, which most of us are familiar with. Attached is a link from GM - https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/category/LS.html |

David Walter- I thought it was a Ford for the same reason regarding (what I thought was) the distributor being on the front end of the block. 3Wide University, where you learn something new in every visit. Well, at least I do. Scott Ely |

The Distributor threw me off also. However, since Gloria Katona ran Buick heads on her Chevy. I learned you could no longer identify a small block by the headers.
Now if you want a current Dirtcar motor you can get a Wegner LS spec motor with the distributor in the front - https://www.wegnerautomotive.com/engine-packages/dirt-modified-engine/
