Hey Bob! I'm going to do a post on here some day about that day. We have quite a few members on here who were there that day. There's actually a video ( poor quality) out there of that crash. I posted it on here a couple of years ago. I can't find it now.

Howie - On the Syracuse car, was that all fuel tank way up high in the back, and if so, was there a reason it was so high, or was there no other room below?  Wondering if there was any kind of aero advantage to having it up there the way you did.  Looking at it now, it looks like the air would roll off the roof and hit the angle on top of the box there and maybe help plant the back of the car....  But I'm no wind tunnel guy, so just wonderin'...

Thanks in advance.

Ut oh.... John Mc is making me nervous...  Looks like I stumbled onto something here.

Hey... If it was some kind of advantage, good for them if it made it through tech and onto the track!

(Still not sure what was going on, but now I'm even more interested than before!)Smile

The top of the fuel cell was about 10" below the top flat area. it was the pankake style cell.. we built the back up to mount the fuel inlet(dry break) so it would be downhill and fill quickly. never thought about down force but just make it go through the air with less drag... That was always my idea of making small bodies..Thank you for the question...
