lincoln pulled it off. Must be one of the biggest crowds in its history. Wow. Track was perfect. As requested I will not post results for those who DNR or watch the rerun.

Thank you Flo Racing

Where do you live? I'm in Havre de Grace. A friend from Aberdeen has a street stock. He races Lincol, sometimes.

The advertised start time was 7:30 at 9:03 pm Lincoln posted the winner. Basically 1 half & hour show on a weeknight. Other tracks should follow that model. No need for 2 divisions and a dragged-out show. That's why the place packs them in.

As a racer and crewman, you need a second division to allow for work. With one division and you are in the last heat and in first, or only consi, it's not good. The go go go thing usually results in something bad.

as a former crew man on a sprint team - they had over a 20 min intermission - if you need more than that to turn the car around for the feature [fuel tires or gear change ] than you have problems that are not the tracks fault - i think tracks to many times drag ass and have to many divisions that bore the fans - i applaud lincoln especially on a work night

Think the world of you Kevin but I'm siding with Butch on this one. That's why I'll never go to an STSS show during the week.

they ran three heats and 30 lap feature. Only one caution all night. Between the third heat and feature they fooled around long enough for teams to make adjustments. I love caution free racing.

After reading about long shows that drag on all night I actually wondered last night if this show was too short.  I'm not sure I would want to drive an hour to a track for a 90-minute show (and how long were cars actually racing on the track during that 90 mins.)

I remember driving from New Jersey, 2-1/2 hrs, to Williamsgrove for a Friday night show in the 80's and watching a 7 min 30 lap sprint feature. I believe Bobby Allen won after starting like 12th. One of the best shows I ever saw and the whole thing was about 2-2-1/2 hrs. All depends on the race!!

At many tracks even after a 30-40 minute intermission the pit steward has to beg the drivers to get out onto the track for the feature. Same goes for hot laps. Most of the time it's not the tracks fault.

Seems like that's more of a stock car thing. Not sure if they still do it but at Lincoln the announcer starts doing the lineup, last to first. If you're not on the track by the time he finishes with the lineup, you start last. I'm sure it's happened but I've never seen anyone get sent to the rear.

Agree with Butch Pletcher, 20 minutes is adequate time to ready a sprint for the feature. In 1986 while racing with URC, Mike Auer driving, we qualified for feature in the consi. A short intermission, URC feature next. We were using same tires and gears, so basically had to fuel up, and air tires. Only problem was, during the consi the brake pads got tossed from the inboard rear brake (we only ran LR and LF brake), an occasional issue in the early days of inboard brakes. While I took care of problem  in record time, Mike got into seat and buckled up, Dad fueled up, and I completed repair in front of a large crowd. I bled brakes as most of the feature field had already pushed off.

Every travck should have a clock like Reading.  Show no favorites, if you are not out on time, you start in the back.

  • Tracks should drag the show out. Really give us our money's worth!
  • The more down time the better especially when there is nothing coming across the PA.
  • Don't keep us paying customers informed. Keep us in the dark.
  • Ending before midnight? how dare they!
  • The more divisions the better.
  • Run the 'Main' division's feature last.
  • Work the track between every race.
  • Don't start at the scheduled time. Is that 7, 730 or 8? Each media has a different time.
  • Don't answer the phone.

Wake me up!! That was the nightmare I experienced when coming south the first time in 1983, and why I pick and choose these days. I'll now decide how much BS I care to withstand! I know going in to make a day of it.

I grew up spoiled at Wall. They started at 7pm on the dot each week. Modifieds were the first feature event. Did not appreciate the tight ship they ran until Jim Bob and I took our show on the road!!

Amen Frank !!

We didn't realize how good we had it at Wall for shows running efficenlty until we hit the road to race chase for new tracks. Many a night we'd leave a new track pissed after suffering through a poorly managed program. I was so use to seeing the headline division feature run first that I couldn't believe some of the nonsense that went on at some tracks. Now I'm retired in the south and still wanting to roam the roads to new tracks and try to be mellow when I know what I'm getting myself into .......

Not when it's 3 shocks, grind 3 tires, gear, and fuel!  Oh, forgot the panhard and front axel adjustment! It's a Mud Turtle!!!
