I ran Shellhammers in the 80's so nothing from New Egypt. I can say all of us who did run Karts are lucky to be either walking or talking.

I remember Ron Shook was one of the big engine builders for those guys down their. Along with Richie (last name?) From Kustom Karting was also big down their. He was the builder of the Laguna Kart. I want to say Bob Resco was a big winner down their along with.....of course, Ace Lane.

Alot of guys who ran modifieds also ran Karts....Richie Smith 555 was Kustom Kartings house driver.

When I ran Karts at Shellammers Jeff Strunk was the guy to beat. Fortunately for me he ran in a different class.

That's good stuff right there! We also raced at Park City Mall ( somwhere near Reading), on a temporary road course in the parking lot. I remember there was one looooooong section of the track that ran parrelell to the highway and we go whipping by the cars.

The Bob Ciccone and Bob Courtwright raced go-karts too, that may have been pre 1980 though. Ministocks and gokarts made for some great nites for sure.

Oh yeah, I raced at New Egypt from 1992-1994 or so. The photos were from about 1992 I believe. I'm number 73. In 1994 I wrecked a brand new Invader kart by hitting a cone and sliding into the front wall coming off of the last turn. I remember Ron Shook telling me that when I fell out of the kart I bounced like a ball on the pavement. I did walk away but had some road rash on that one.

I know he won a race at the National Dirt Track Championships in November 1986 at Bad Boy Speeedway. It was the Long Island/New Jersey Regionals. John Betts and Tony Ferrante Sr. were second and third.

We ran the oval around '74, '75 until they went to the road course. I was not real good on the road courses, but for some reason I really liked this one & was able to get around it pretty well.
