I may be bias towards 3Wide but I don't understand why more tracks don't utilize the site to announce when they are cancelling.  Its not like it cost prohibitive, and it takes maybe a minute of one's time to make a post.  Also, I'm not against facebook, or any other social chat site but I'm not a fan of them.  Don't know if it was an oversight but I didn't see anything about the cancellation of one track's events on their website this past week.  I'm more into checking a track's website than social media sites.  In my opinion, if you're "throwing in the towel on a show", Put on your facebook page, your website, and 3wide.  I'll bet you'll reach a ton of your fan base.  Keep in mind that I'm an old dude who is technologically challenged.     Scott Ely

Scott most tracks probably figure it's quickest to post on Social Media and be done with it. Last weekend was a perfect example of it. Several tracks announced when they canceled, one moved their start time up and one attempted to race but canceled at the last minute.  All announcements were done on Chuckelsbergs social media site. Not sure if tracks post on Twitter.

Ernie and Danny are missed around here they are the only ones who kept us up to date here on 3-wide.  (Beside's New Eygpt ) Even Wall does not post here that often anymore.  If it were not for the Thunder on the Hill updates, would you know if Grandview was racing or not?

I go to Bridgeport alot , it's my home track.  I  do use facebook however on the day of the show I will do it the old fashion way and that's call on the phone. They have a very detailed message of the days' events or most of the time someone will answer the phone.

Thanks for the info regarding calling Bridgeport on raceday.  Didn't know if they would utilize the phone in advising fans of racing activities.  Back in the day, my mom would call Don Stives on "iffy" weather days to see if Windsor was running or not.  Don lived real close to Windsor and would tell my mom if race cars were showing up and what the weather at the track was.  Although Don's info wasn't an "official" Windsor statement regarding running or not, his opinion was pretty much on the mark as to Windsor getting rained out or not.  My  mom once said that she only drove to Windsor once or twice, not taking Don's opinion that Windsor would get rained out, when they did call the races.  Scott Ely
