I think pictures of this car were posted a few years ago.  It's a Fastback Mustang bodied #40 racer that I'm pretty sure was in the back on Price's Auto Wrecking (now NJ Scrap Metal & Recyling) on Rt 539 about 1 mile south of New Egypt Speedway.  I took this picture yesterday, as the car is now parked out front:

Joe-  I wonder if this isn't the same # 40 Mustang that my mom take a photo of at Langhorne in 1969.  She wrote on the back of the photo that Jim Hoffman was the driver. This photo is posted on page 8 in 3Wide's "Gettin There" section.

What are the chances that 2 different Mustangs are both numbered 40.

I think you are right Scott - Both are orange... both are Fastbacks... both have the wheelwells cut pretty high, and it's hard to see in my picture, but where the crease of the door goes through the "40" on the door, matches up pretty well.

I looked in the 1969 Langhorne program entry list and the car #40 a 1965 ford was driven by Jim Hoffman. The owner is listed as Farry Associates.  Jim's name was not in the starting lineup.

Here's the comparison:

If I go by there again, I'll actually pull over and take a real picture!

This is when I wish Bobby Thomas was here, he would know the whole story about it. Looked at that car a few times at Prices. It would be a great restoration project. I asked and they would not sell it, maybe the new people will.
