I'm changing it up this week. I'm only going to do one person. He's not just anyone, he's Gary Balough. There's are so many words to describe Gary, talented, charismatic, hated, loved, brash, confident, genious, dumb. To shove everything that he's done in his life into his 70+ years, you and I can only dream about. I know there's going to be some negative comments here, just try to keep them polite. Tag! yer it. I purposely left out the Batmobile this time.

GARY BALOUGH, LINDA VAUGHN AND BRETT HEARN

GARY BALOUGH AND RALPH (GYPSY) CORWIN.

GARY BALOUGH AND STEWART FREISEN

SAMMY BEAVERS , GARY BALOUGH AND BILLY OSMUN.

GRANT KING AND GARY BALOUGH.

Great group of pictures Lenny. Most of which I have direct memory of and brought a tear or two. Gary was the real deal racer in every way. He could build it tune it and drive it. I've called him my big brother at times. My father and Gary had ups and downs but never wavered when the chips were down.

So many people in these pictures that were racing heavy weights buy none more then Pete Hamilton and Mario Rossi.

Maybe "Cos" to the left in the picture of Gary with the teal colored bus(?) in the background, about  11 pictures up from the bottom.

In the pic with the funky Enduro lookin' car that says "Eng. by Rossi", "Chassis- Hamilton, that sure looks like Mario and Pete. That looks like 70's or 80's too, wonder what the story is?

First that is definately Rossi and Hamilton standing by what has to be a little funnin. I must say I've changed my mind a little about the Billy Harvey Grant King car. I never really liked the shade of blue but in these pictures it's really a very nice mix of blue and chrome. I am glad to see the picture of the back of the car. Some have said it had a lower torsion bar rack but I now see thats not true. That rack is standard Grant King. Interesting that they removed the front bars and went with coil overs. Why not, he won Syracuse three times with that set up in a King car.

The young lady with the camera sitting with Gary on the rub rail is Deb Smith of AARN. Standing behind the Addy 112 about picture 15 is Rich Maranelli. The no. 30 is Gary's car before he bought the 112 from a guy Jr Hanley delivered it to in florida.

The Guys kneeling in front of Billy Harveys cup car are left to right; not sure, Jimmy Soussy (owned the black 17 Troyer asphalt modified), Jack St Clair, Bobby Henry (driver in his own right), Gary and Billy.

Didn't Mario Rossi disappear off the face of the earth, never to be found again?

Definately Cos in the bus photo!  Cos lettered a bunch of Gary's cars, mostly asphalt late models. He told me Gary would fly him down to Florida each time.

I believe thats Herbie Tillman (wear the hat, "Williams Motor Sports") with Gary B. in a photo thats about 1/2 way down the list of Lenny's great photos.   By the  looks of the frame, I'd say that was the last race for the Whip Mulligan built 73.  Scott Ely

It's funny that you mentioned the 84 car. When I asked Gary to sign my tire, I also asked him to put his favorite car number. He said, I'm going to give you a home work assigment. Figure out why I put # 84. I was walking away saying to myself, why did you do that Gary? I wanted 73, 112 or even the 9. But he puts 84. After reading his book I find out that the 84 he considered his first quality ride that got his career started in the right direction. I'm not upset anymore. I think it's actually pretty cool.

The night you asked Gary to sign the tire I knew he was struggling with what number to use so I said to him put Marindino's 84 down and see if anyone gets it. I'm pretty sure it's the same night in Middletown that Joe brought Richard Egge and Paul Hindibrandt over to see Gary for the first time in a while.
