My dad recently asked me how many drivers have driven the Horton 43 over the years, and I could only come up with 3. I'm sure there's loads more. I've got Jimmy, Mike Grbac, & Sammy Beavers. Who are we missing?

Ed Farley was the driver of the #43 in 1963. He was injured in Turn 2 the same night that Bob Pickell had his horrific frontstretch crash in the Circle A2a.

Didn't Fritz drive for Jim when it was a different number, not 43.  And I do remember Rocco in it at NES.

Fritz ran a 43, Steve Moss went to a wedding and the old man asked him if he wanted to run it and we said Hell yea! So we can add Steve Moss that also drove a Horton owned #43! Fritz ran the car a few more times, but it was an alchohol small block and at New Egypt the big blocks, on a heavy track, we didn't have a chance.

Mr. Horton claims to have fielded the first Gremlin on dirt, which I'm pretty sure this is it. It's also possibly the ugliest Gremin on dirt, lol. We should do am UGLY car segment. There's a bunch of'um.

There was a picture of The Spooker in a Cavlacade of Auto Racing Pictorial around late summer or early fall of 1970. I lost 99 percent of my racing memorabilia due to tropical storm Irene. The name Art or Artie was possibly involved with the car as owner, driver or. Mechanic. Mr.Hurlburt may have been involved also

Stan definitely drove the Horton #2, but I'm also pretty sure Stan drove a Horton owned #43 Gremlin.  I don't like to bring up bad memories, but one of the times Stan broke his arm in the first turn at Flemington might have been in a #43?

Dave Hunt also drove for Jim Horton at Bridgeport in recent years, and I think it was a #43.

Yeah, I assumed someone already mentioned Stan in the 43, he hit the fence right in front of us. Stuck throttle is horrifying.

History repeated itself. Stan broke the same arm twice due to stuck throttles, once in Horton 43 2nd time in the 4T7

Stan flipped the #81 Norcia Mustang from turn 2 all the way to turn 3 very early in the 1974 season, but did not get hurt.

He broke his arm in back to back first turn accidents, once in the Horton #43, and the other time in the #4T7.  (Can't remember which came first, but the results were identical....)

For those who weren't there, it's almost impossible to believe, but the truth is that he broke his arm after having the throttle stick causing him to crash hard into the turn one fence.  He was out of action for many months (possibly the off season, but I'm not sure), but what I am sure of is that the very next time out, the exact same thing happened - same corner... stuck throttle.... and straight into the first turn fence, with the same results (broken arm.)

As unbelievable as it probably sounds to read that, just imagine how unbelievable it was to us sitting in turn one right under the Section 3-4 sign, to have seen it happen all over again on the night of Stan's return.
