I have a 700R4 transmission in my Chevy Truck that needs to be rebuilt (or replaced if that is its fate).

Any recommendations of someone to take it to?  Possibly someone with connections to the racing community that knows what they are doing...

I am in the Flemington area but will take it to whoever if they are going to do a good job.

Thanks in advance.

They are very good at diagnostics, hopefully it won't need a trans!

If it needs to be towed, my flatbed will be in Flemington around 2:15 today. We can drop it at Harry's.  call my cell if needed 7three two-five 8 zero-three six 24

Thank you, everyone, for the replies.  Long day, just getting home, and seeing the responses.  A few answers to the questions...

I've watched Harry race for years and would be honored to have him work on it.  Freehold - don't think I could drive it there.  It has 1st and 2nd, but slips in 3rd.  Might be able to limp it to Kingwood / Croton area.  Kevin thanks for offering, I might give you a call as if I had my pick, I would rather support a racer.

CLEVCO - The truck is a 1990 Chevy C1500 with 138K miles.

Some of you might have seen it in the Elks Parking Lot at the Flemington Historical Meeting recently; I drove it to the event that night.

The truth is I am an office dweller and do not know much mechanically, but I am learning. I bought it with the goal of completely restoring it when I retire.

I have been looking at everything I can devour to learn how everything works on the truck and have an expectation to do a frame-off restoration.  Between this and my 1931 Chevy, I will have two projects to keep me occupied since I never bought a racecar in my youth.

For now, I am just trying to coddle it until I have time to tear it down and completely refresh it.

My 1931 I inherited from when my father passed away.

The previous post wouldn't load the image for some reason.  This one worked.  The car is a little rough here and there, but I will get things sorted out; Including the color, the neon green has got to go.

It is a real steel body, not a fiberglass replica.

BTW, glad it is going to rain Saturday.  I am tearing all of the shelves and stuff out of my garage and rebuilding everything. It looks like a train wreck in there from this shot (because it is LOL).  New Husky Cabinets, New Workbenchs, and so on.

That 90 is awesome.  Is that a flamed partial hood for the green one?

That 90 Chevy is worth some money, you would be surprised what people are paying for those.

I do that every once in awhile, take a picture of my garage and clean it up from there.

A Boss 429, 427sohc or a 351 Cleveland would look good between the frame rails.

Comments...

The truck is a 1990 Sport, which was the sibling truck to the 454 SS.  I bought it a few years ago with the thought that the trucks would go up in price and yes, they have skyrocketed lately.  It is astonishing what they are getting in the market these days. It has a Garnet Red interior and a few other appointments like the 454s.
On the whole, it is going to be a pretty good project truck.

The flame thing was on the car when he bought it.  It was attached to the cowl of the radiator.  It's a bit kitschy for my taste but I thought it was a cool tchotchke so I plan to hang it on the wall somewhere.

The motor in the green car has a racing history.  It has the 283 CU motor that ran in my brother's 1957 Chevy Street Stock that he drove at the Nazareth small track in 1975.  My father had it after all these years and pulled it out, rebuilt it, and placed it in the car.  He thought that it was a good power plant for the size of the car as there isn't too much to it.
