Photo By Ace Lane Jr/Provided by Lee Taylor Jr. We left this one kinda large thinking that maybe there's a few 3 Wider's in the background. I was probably there that day, but would be just out of frame to the left as the cars are headed into turn one in this picture.

That sedan was never the car we thought it would be. It was a very early Tobias 2x4 frame. It had the best of everything but never any speed. The first time we brought it Middletown they told us to never bring it back. The best ride it had was the 1973 Flemingoon 200 when Pee Wee Griffin finished third. |

I agree RuCu - Now that I think about it, I think Don used to come out from the office and stand there for some of the action as it wasn't far (closest section) to the the office/ticket window. |

The issue was the 2x4 frame. First one anyone ever saw except a few guys in Reading may have had it. Like I said I think it was one of the first from Tobias in 1971. |

... and probably within 2 years, almost all of the modifieds were proabably built on a dedicated racing frame versus the old 55 Chevy/other frame rails. I can remember as a 13 year old looking through the Tobias and Profile frame literature... Bare frame, roller.... I was already making a wishlist. |

I don't recall anything Whip changed on the car. We did put the same front wedge adjusters on that Whip put on the #9/73 that he built (on in this picture). That car was parted out. Things didn't always come up roses and this car sure didn't. |
