The first photo is of Kevin's beautiful "pancake" racer that he ran at Wall.  I asked Kevin if he could send me some photos of his hot rods as I didn't see any posted on 3Wide.  Hopefully, he will do just that as all of his cars were sharp lookin' racers.  Anyway, I first met Kevin at Bridgeport at one of the last 5/8s races run.  Since then, I have gained a lot of respect for Kevin as he is not only an accomplished racer but a true fan of the sport.  Given all that he's done for and in the sport, not to mention his involvement in the Matheny School Christmas Party, I thought I'd build him a model of his beautiful #21 Wall racer. The rest of the photos are of the model of his #21.  The model used is available on Model Roundup.  The decals were a special order from Polecat Decals.  Building this model (its not perfect) gave me an appreciation for today's hot rods.  They're nothing like what I grew up working on and watching in the 60s and 70s, to say the least.  Scott Ely

Wow! great job. Just checked out that model site. Talk about inflation. I used to pay $2.50 or 3 bucks for those kits back in the 70's lol.Still have a box full of nascar models that I hope to get around to restoring some day. The modifieds and late models regretfully are all gone now.

Awesome Scott! I've been watching a few of those kits on eBay. They look like they're molded very precisely, is that so? Was there much fit work required?

Steve- This model was much more detailed parts wise as opposed to the 60s-70s models I've built previously.  For example, the hubs, brake rotors, and cailbers were all separate pieces.  I found out that if you were "off a tad" on glueing the various parts of the frame/ chassis together (which I was), it carried over into the mounting of the front/ rear suspensions and body panels.  I'll know better next time.  Scott Ely

Kevin, thank you for your kind words.  The word is out, I'm a decent model fabricator and a "not so good" photographer.  I'm ok with both.  Scott
