Photos circulating around from the crash last night at Bridgeport of Justin Peck's race car. The top was torn right off the car.  The accident took part on the opening lap.  Here is the video of the wreck  - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZIwK77ccZk

Theres some still photos floating around on the web. Looks like the whole top half of the seat got twisted 90 degrees to the right. Justin was certainly a lucky dude. So did the car do it's job? Or did it fall apart because they are built to light? Mind you this happened on the green flag lap. Those cars where probably only going what. maybe 60mph? If that same wreck happened on the next lap at full song we would be having a different conversation.

It amazes me that the insurance companies are even willing to write policies for some of these tracks. I've said it hear before. Sooner or later a flagman is going to get wiped out. With todays technology there is absolutely no reason a human being should be hanging out over the edge of a race track. The entire race can and should be controlled from the tower via lights, switches, and radio communication with the drivers.

P.S. So whats designed more unsafe? The NASCAR NxtGen car or a 410 sprint car? And when was the last time you heard a srint car driver whinning about their car being unsafe? Fact of the matter is until the sprint car community gets together as a whole and demands changes to the cars and the tracks this will keep happening.

He walked away from the wreck, that is fact. What if's and coulda beens don't count. And this is coming from a guy that was thought to be dead after flipping a sprint car thirteen times.

He wasn't at Williams Grove last night, maybe that's why.

I'll never forget the day when Junkyard Gene wrecked at Reading.

That wreck was eerily similar to Jason Lefflers crash there while also driving for Tom Buch. I'll bet there were quite a few anxious moments until he climbed out. I don't know if it's true, but I heard that two drivers (Ross and Melair) were disqualified for exiting their cars under the red flag to assist Justin Peck.
